Politicians, pundits and social media political savants have been abuzz with speculation about who will replace former FBI Director James Comey after he was fired by President Donald Trump on Tuesday.
On Wednesday the hosts of “Fox & Friends” got into the speculation game with their guest, Fox News producer Griff Jenkins.
Jenkins believes that former New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Rep. Trey Gowdy, firebrand Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke and former FBI Deputy Director John Pistole have emerged as the front-runners.
Social media had no shortage of opinions of who should be, and who shouldn’t be, the new FBI Director.
I like Ray Kelly, former police commissioner in New York City, to replace Comey at FBI

I actually believe Ray Kelly would be a excellent choice to replace #comey as head of FBI. He was great in NY. Would be fair to both sides

Trump should appoint former federal prosecutor, Chris Christie to replace Jim Comey!

Can you imagine if @POTUS picked Chris Christie to replace Comey? That would be a firestorm but Christie would do an excellent job.

FBI agents want John Pistole for new FBI director. #Comey

Clarke to replace Comey. Need to put a police officer in as director and Clarke will do the job!

@realDonaldTrump Oh I’m thanking you now! Excellent move. Love it. Happy dance here! Pick Sheriff David Clarke to replace Comey!! Clarke would be perfect
— mrs. robbie daly (@robbiedaly) May 10, 2017
Sheriff Clarke shud be appointed head of FBI. He has actual law enforcement experience. I like Gowdy but he’s another lawyer like Comey.

And it was apparent that none of those names would satisfy the resistance.
If Trump tries to replace Comey with a loyalist/sycophant – a Giuliani or a Chris Christie, this thing just gets darker… #Russiagate
