It was a rough first day back in front of the cameras for White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer

Reporters hounded him for evidence of President Donald Trump’s tweet alleging he was wiretapped by former President Obama.

CNN’s Jim Acosta began the barrage by asking Spicer for proof.

“It’s not a question of new proof or less proof or whatever,” Spicer said on Tuesday.

Spicer said the president has no regrets about his tweet and has no intention of withdrawing the accusation until it is adjudicated.

Glenn Thrush of the New York Times followed with a question of his own asking for “evidence.”

Spicer said it’s “above my pay grade” to see that type of evidence but that the president wants the House and Senate intelligence committees to look into it.

Reuters’ Ayesha Rascoe was next with a “follow-up to the follow-up” and she asked Spicer if it “is the White House position that the President can make declarative statements about a former President basically committing a crime and then the congressional committees should look into that and basically prove it?”

“As I said, now, five times to a follow-up to a follow-up, that it’s not a question of  ‘prove it,” Spicer said. “It’s that they have the resources and the clearances and the staff to fully and thoroughly and comprehensively investigate this and then issue a report as to what their findings are.”

Spicer also faced questions about the WikiLeaks Vault 7 documents on alleged CIA hacking that were leaked on Tuesday. but he provided no answers.

“I’m not going to comment on that,” he said. “I think obviously that’s not something that has been fully evaluated. And if it was, I would not comment from here on that.”

The leaks purportedly show that the CIA has the capability to hack into a variety of devices including smart televisions that it can use to eavesdrop on conversations, according to the documents.
