Al Sharpton’s daughter, Eric Garner’s mom arrested outside of Trump Tower

The daughter of Rev. Al Sharpton, and the mother of Eric Garner, who died in a struggle with police in 2014, were both arrested Tuesday at a protest outside of Trump Tower in New York City.

Garner’s mother, Gwen Carr, was an outspoken supporter of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during the presidential election.

Sharpton’s youngest daughter Ashley is the director of the of the National Action Network’s Youth Huddle group, the New York Post reported.

The group of was on hand to protests President Trump’s Supreme Court nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch, but they were likely going to protest regardless of who the president picked.

“In an act of civil disobedience and in the tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Eric Garner’s mom and others were arrested tonight…over President Trump’s SCOTUS nominee Neil Gorsuch,” Rachel Noerdlinger, the spokeswoman for Sharpton, said in a statement.
