Fort Lauderdale airport shooter revealed; chaos over reports of more gunfire, TSA issues ‘shelter in place’

UPDATE: According to officials the suspect checked gun in baggage and used it after landing in Fort Lauderdale on a Canadian flight.

A witness to the Fort Lauderdale Airport shooting that killed at least five reported hearing more gunfire as he spoke with Fox News’ Shepard Smith live on air Friday.

The TSA issued a warning of an active shooter situation ongoing after giving an all clear earlier, confirming witness reports that a second shooting occurred.

“It was very surreal,” witness John Schlicher told Fox News. “He did not say a word.”

As he described the incident Schlicher said more gunfire began and they were told to get on the floor and stay.

The shooter was identified as Esteban Santiago and he was carrying military ID, according to Sen. Bill Nelson.
