Trump will meet with Mexican president in Mexico — hours before big immigration speech

Donald Trump is headed to Mexico.

The Republican presidential nominee accepted the invitation of Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto to meet with him in Mexico City mere hours before Trump gives a major speech to clarify his immigration position, the Washington Post reported.

Both Trump and Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton were invited last Friday, according to a statement from Nieto’s office provided to the Post.

Trump and Nieto announced the meeting on Twitter.

“What ultimately matters is what Donald Trump says to voters in Arizona, not Mexico, and whether he remains committed to the splitting up of families and deportation of millions,” Clinton campaign adviser Jennifer Palmieri said in a statement to the Post.

The response to Trump’s visit was mixed on social media.
