A liberal congresswoman and a witness clashed over the Obama administration’s directive that called on public schools to allow male and female students to use the bathroom of the gender they think they “identify” with.

The commotion happened at a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday when Rep. Zoe Lofgren attacked University of San Diego law professor Gail Heriot, a member of the United States Commission on Civil Rights, because of her testimony submitted to Congress that read, in part:

If I believe that I am a Russian princess, that doesn’t make me a Russian princess, even if my friends and acquaintances are willing to indulge my fantasy. Nor am I a Great Horned Owl just because, as I have been told, I happen to share some personality traits with those feathered creatures.

Lofgren called her a “bigot” for that testimony, and when Heriot tried to defend herself, the congresswoman shouted over her so that she couldn’t be heard. “I think you’re a bigot lady! I think you’re an ignorant bigot!” Lofgren said.

“I don’t want to let that type of bigotry go into the record unchecked,” she continued. “Now I don’t want to get into a debate about it…”

“Does that mean you think I am a Russian princess,” Heriot asked.

“I have no idea,” Lofgren retorted.

Many on social media, where the congresswoman boastfully posted the exchange, agreed that she had no idea.
