A local TV reported helped make the difference between life and death for a man caught in dangerous floodwater.

Steve Campion, who was reporting for KTRK on the immense flooding in the Houston area, spotted a man trapped in his car as it was starting to sink.

“Dude, you’ve got to get out of the car. You’ve got to get out!” Campion yelled.

As the car began sinking Campion again yelled to the man “Leave the car, swim!”

Fortunately the man, who identified himself as Andy, did.

Campion went out to meet him halfway and grab him.

Andy made a move to go back for the car before Campion stopped him.

Moments later it was completely submerged.
