Feminist, and professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Camille Paglia will not be voting for the “soulless” Hillary Clinton despite the fact that she’s a woman.
“I feel Hillary Clinton is utterly corrupt,” she said in an interview with “Spiked” last week. “Her current positions on the campaign trail have been just co-opted from what Bernie Sanders was saying, because her poll testing told her that that’s where the party was. I think she’s absolutely soulless. I think she’s incompetent.”
Paglia said she would have preferred Sen. Dianne Feinstein or Nancy Pelosi but also felt Vice President Joe Biden would have been an acceptable choice even though she didn’t give him the most ringing endorsement.
“I would vote for Biden, even though he’s kind of dim,” she told “Spiked.” “He’s a dim bulb, shall we say, but he’s a decent guy and kind of a mensch … People like him, and he’s experienced. He knows the world. He has international connections.”
She even took a shot at “Girls” star and Clinton supporter Lena Dunham referring to her as “the symbol of neuroticism which masquerades as feminism,”
While she prefers Sanders to Clinton she said he would face a major learning curve if he were elected president.
And if it came to Donald Trump versus Clinton she might opt not to vote at all.
But, interestingly, in an article last month for liberal news website Salon Paglia praised Trump as “refreshing.”
Trump’s fearless candor and brash energy feel like a great gust of fresh air, sweeping the tedious clichés and constant guilt-tripping of political correctness out to sea. Unlike Hillary Clinton, whose every word and policy statement on the campaign trail are spoon-fed to her by a giant paid staff and army of shadowy advisors, Trump is his own man, with a steely “damn the torpedoes” attitude. He has a swaggering retro machismo that will give hives to the Steinem cabal. He lives large, with the urban flash and bling of a Frank Sinatra. But Trump is a workaholic who doesn’t drink and who has an interesting penchant for sophisticated, strong-willed European women. As for a debasement of the presidency by Trump’s slanging matches about penis size, that sorry process was initiated by a Democrat, Bill Clinton, who chatted about his underwear on TV, let Hollywood pals jump up and down on the bed in the Lincoln Bedroom, and played lewd cigar games with an intern in the White House offices.
