A woman who said she was the victim of a Muslim hate crime has now admitted that she staged and faked the whole thing.

The 20-year-old woman of Middle Eastern descent told authorities that she was walking down the street wearing a headscarf when someone grabbed her arm, slashed her face and called her a “f***ing terrorist,” according to the New York Post.

“She’s got a noticeable-sized cut to the left side of her cheek,” a police official told the Post after the alleged incident.

After checking surveillance video and canvassing the area, police found no evidence of an attack. The woman was questioned at Bellevue Hospital and admitted to faking the assault, the Post reported.

She admitted that she had inflicted the wound upon herself. The woman is now undergoing psychiatric evaluation.
