A new audio recording has surfaced showing a rather cozy relationship between the hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, and Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump.
Recorded between commercial breaks during last week’s “Trump Town Hall” on MSNBC, the trio talked about the successfulness of Trump’s campaign and the futileness of his opponents’ attacks against him.
During the audio, Brzezinski told Trump she had a “wow moment” when he brought two supporters, who had removed protesters from the rally, on stage with him to speak.
“We played it several times this morning,” Scarborough said.
“I saw it. I watched your show this morning. You have me like almost as a legendary figure. I like it,” Trump replied.
At another part of the audio, Brzezinski appeared to agree to give Trump softball questions.
“We really have to go to some questions,” Scarborough said.
“And pay for the wall?” Brzezinski asked.
“That’s right. Nothing, nothing too hard Mika,” Trump said.
“Okay,” Brzezinski replied.
The clip was obtained by comedian Harry Shearer who played it on his “Le Show” program.
It was unearthed at a bad time for the “Morning Joe” team as Scarborough has come under increased scrutiny for his perceived favoritism and burgeoning friendship with Trump.
CNN reported that top network brass had “widespread discomfort” over Scarborough’s “increasingly favorable coverage” of Trump.
“People don’t like that Joe is promoting Trump,” one MSNBC staffer told CNN.
