Hillary in jail float was a big hit with balloon-throwing kids at Arcadia Fire Dept parade; check out the photos

A young Iowa, boy knew just what to do when he had the opportunity to meet “Hillary Clinton.”

That chance came at the Arcadia Fire Department’s 100th anniversary parade on Saturday when a float with a man dressed as Clinton behind bars came barreling down the street.

When he saw it, the young, blonde boy grabbed a water balloon from another float that was handing them out, cocked his arm and landed a bull’s-eye shot on the effigy of the Democrat presidential nominee, according to the Daily Times Herald.

That boy was one of many who hit “Clinton” during the parade.

Many in the crowd cheered the float. Others were heard moaning and groaning that the prank went too far.

“It was my idea,” float operator Kyle Julin told the local newspaper. “Pretty much me and Josh (Reetz). It took us about a day-and-a-half to build.”

He added that he, fellow float designer Adam Corky and Reetz were not affiliated with any political party but, until months ago Reetz was a registered Democrat.

“Probably a month ago we joked around about it, and at the beginning of last week we decided to do it,” Julin told the Times Herald. “We started on it Wednesday night.”

Julin said the response was mostly positive, other than one group that jeered them.

“Even the police and everybody was positive about it, especially on social media,” he told the newspaper. “We couldn’t get pictures with some people because of where they work and their political agendas. But, only one group booed us. My consensus from that was 99 percent to 1 percent liked it.”

Count Carroll County Democrats Chairman Tim Tracy among those who did not find the prank amusing.

“The Carroll County Democrats participated in the Arcadia celebration in an appropriate and dignified manner,” he said. “We saw a lot of children along the parade route. Children aren’t politically savvy. It’s sad to imagine that some of them may have been wondering why they were being mean to that lady and throwing things at her.”
