As lawmakers returned to work and reactions spread in response to the sudden passing of South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, Washington, D.C. was abuzz with activity Monday, especially where it concerns the Middle East. Amid talks of war, legislative efforts and election integrity, the latter had MS NOW’s Nicolle Wallace assured that President Donald Trump would be “unveiling another round of lies” about foreign interference after announcing a Thursday speech with scant details beyond the time.

After the president posted to social media, “Donald Trump will be making a Speech to the Nation on Thursday evening, at 9 P.M. Eastern. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” MS NOW’s Jake Traylor reported, “Trump’s Thursday speech is slated to address newly declassified intelligence reports that the White House asserts reveal plans by foreign nations to interfere in the 2020 election, according to two White House officials granted anonymity to discuss internal plans.”

Citing network reporting, MS NOW’s Nicolle Wallace insisted, “Donald Trump appears to be taking his assault on the truth, and democracy, and American elections, to primetime. MS NOW is reporting that Trump will deliver an address Thursday evening where he plans to unveil another round of lies about why he lost in 2020 to Joe Biden.”

“This time, claiming that newly declassified reports reveal foreign interference in that election that his own government didn’t know about at the time, lies that seemed to conveniently obscure that he was the president of the United States,” she went on. “All of his handpicked people ran every facet of the government in 2020. His handpicked Attorney General Bill Barr ran the Justice Department. His handpicked replacement for Jim Comey, Chris Wray, ran the FBI. Both of them have repeatedly and publicly debunked these lies that there was any foreign interference.”

As previously reported, a White House task force was said to be gathering documents from U.S. intelligence agencies with the intent to declassify them as part of an election probe.

Despite the confidence with which Wallace claimed a primetime address would be a venue for alleged falsehoods, the actual intended content of the chief executive’s speech was considered in flux by a senior advisor who spoke with Axios.

“It’s changing by the minute, but it’s something he wants to address,” the insider told the outlet, referencing Iran as the president had formally notified Congress that the U.S. was at war with the Islamic regime. “It will be a potpourri”

Acknowledging the potential that Trump might address findings from the election task force, the report noted both the president’s desire to see the SAVE America Act passed and the adviser’s denial of stories circulating that he planned to challenge the outcome of the 2020 Senate elections in Georgia, ultimately won by Democrats Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.

The adviser did, however, suggest Trump intends to use his platform with greater frequency to deliver messages directly to the American people: “We want to get into the rhythm of doing this. It’s powerful when you give prime-time speeches that give a sense of importance to what he’s saying.”

In his own words, the president remained mum on the content of the speech, instead taking the time to discuss his semiquincentennial addresses with Salem Radio Network host Hugh Hewitt on Monday after stating, “It’s just gonna be a speech like a lot of my speeches.”
