Passenger claims United demanded wardrobe change before takeoff

An airline passenger is accusing United crew of demanding that he change his shirt before he could travel.

With all of the controversial clothing choices that one can find at your local international airport, it’s hard to believe a simple T-shirt would be enough to rock the boat. That’s exactly what Sam Saadeh, of Linden, New Jersey, is claiming happened, however, when he was pulled aside over his anti-war shirt and asked to change.

Saadeh the Palestinian, but really an American, is milking this all he can. He purposely wore a T-Shirt on a @United Airlines flight, that to many was another “dig” at Israel, based on one woman, with a history of anti Israel activism, who wrote a report on behalf of the UN.

The shirt specifically said “Bombing kids is not self-defense,” according to CBS News. Saadeh, a man of Palestinian descent, said he was approached by a United Airlines supervisor on his flight from Atlanta to Newark Liberty International Airport.

“He was like, ‘Hey, the flight attendant finds your shirt offensive,’ and I was like, ‘Why?'” Saadeh told CBS News New York. “He goes, ‘Here are the choices. Either you change your shirt or you can’t get on this flight.'”

He agreed to change his shirt, but questioned airline personnel after landing in Newark.

“She kept saying, like, ‘You could see how the shirt is offensive.’ I was like, ‘I can’t see how the shirt is offensive.’ She was like, ‘It’s 2026.’ I was like, ‘I know what year it is,'” he said.”‘Do you think kids shouldn’t be bombed, or kids should be bombed? Like, what are you offended by?'”

Saadeh said he is currently consulting with lawyers and has filed a Department of Transportation complaint, but maintains that everyone should agree with the sentiments of the shirt.

“At the end of the day, this shirt, to me, is very clear that I think bombing kids is wrong … regardless if you’re Palestinian or if you’re from Mobile, Alabama,” he said.
