President Donald J. Trump tried to quell a mutiny from some GOP lawmakers that has paralyzed the House of Representatives over the SAVE America Act.

Frustrations boiled over with the Republican-controlled Senate continuing to drag its feet over passing the vital election integrity measures, which, among other things, would require photo identification to vote.

Conservative lawmakers led by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) are taking a stand by blocking procedural rules, effectively shutting down the House, until their Senate counterparts get in gear and pass the SAVE America Act.

On Thursday, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) met with the president over the impasse, and after their sit-down, Trump took to Truth Social with an appeal to GOP House unity, calling for an end to “grandstanding” that he suggested is only empowering the Democrats.

“House Republicans should unify, and stop voting down ‘Rules’ or, threatening to do so. Giving power to the Radical Left Dumocrats in the House to control what goes up for a Vote will make our outcomes worse, not better. No more grandstanding, please! They are the Dumocrats, and we can’t let them WIN!” Trump wrote in his post that did not single out any GOP lawmakers by name.

“The house floor will remain shut down unless the Senate Acts and provides a path forward on The Save America Act,” Luna said in a Wednesday post to X.

Johnson said that he and the president are “on exactly the same page” when it comes to getting back to business, adding, “The majority party should never be voting down rules.”

“We got to be able to move forward on legislation and continue the America First agenda,” the top House Republican said. “And so we’re happy to do that. It’s another day at the office. You know this is the process in an era with small margins, but we’ll get the job done.”

The pressure tactic comes despite the fact that the SAVE America Act remains stalled in the upper chamber, where it needs 60 votes to pass due to a procedural hurdle, and GOP senators, along with Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD), are reluctant to “nuke” the filibuster, even though Trump has pointed out that Democrats would do it the instant that they regain power.

On Wednesday, Trump called off a planned press conference and signing of a bipartisan housing “affordability” bill, stressing the importance of passing voter ID, which he called a “national emergency” with the clock rapidly ticking down toward the midterms.

The president also visited GOP senators on Wednesday and was loaded for bear, clashing with Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), who lost his recent primary to a Trump-backed challenger. After meeting with the president, Johnson said he would be transmitting the housing bill to Trump.
