Stephen A Smith admits he can’t figure how Obamas and Clintons became SO wealthy

On occasion, Stephen A Smith will say the quiet part out loud, as seen this week when he expressed bafflement over how the Obamas and Clintons got so wealthy while “serving” the American people.

“I’ll confess something to ya’ll, Smith said on his podcast. “Clinton was a lawyer in Arkansas, grew up poor, relatively broke. How the hell he and the Clinton Foundation are worth hundreds of millions of dollars beats me.”

“Barack Obama was a community organizer who became the President of the United States,” he added. “And last time I checked, that salary ain’t over $450,000, if I remember correctly.”

“It’s amazing to me how these politicians go into office and you’re sworn to serve the American people,” Smith said. “It’s called service, but somehow, someway, they always depart exponentially richer than they arrived. And how no matter how hard we try, we can’t get rid of lobbyists on Capitol Hill because the lobbyists are the ones funneling money into their pockets.”

For what its worth, the Obamas have an estimated joint net worth of approximately $70 million to $135 million, and Bill and Hillary Clinton have a combined estimated net worth of approximately $120 million.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
