Scott Jennings leaves Michael Douglas’ liberal son stuttering in his dust

CNN’s Scott Jennings was not playing around with the 28-year-old son of Michael Douglas, Dylan, regarding the government shutdown.

Democrats have tried to saddle Republicans with blame for the shutdown, ignoring completely the fact that they continuously refused to sign onto any bill that would fund the government until after Election Day had passed. Then, eight lawmakers were willing to cross the aisle to join the GOP despite the fact that Democrats hadn’t received the ACA subsidy extensions they had demanded.

Douglas tried to run this game during CNN’s ‘NewsNight with Abby Phillip,‘ but unfortunately for him, Jennings has a long memory:

“Scott, with all respect, you cannot put on the American people that Democrats were the one that were hurting people, making this plight,” Douglas, who has a political talk show on SiriusXM, said.

“Who was casting the votes AGAINST opening the government, Democrats or Republicans?” Jennings asked, setting a trap that the guest predictably fell right into.

“Who was…?” Douglas replied, attempting to reframe the question to be more favorable.

“No, no. Who was casting the votes?” Jennings said, refusing to let the young man move the goal posts.

“Scott, who was wanting to cut SNAP benefits?” Douglas asked, not realizing the answer to both questions was the same.

“Nobody, Republicans voted to fund SNAP 15 times,” Jennings pointed out. “Republicans voted to FUND SNAP 15 times. Democrats voted to DEFUND it 15 times! And we had to beg 8 to join us!”
