While leading his legislature toward meaningful action, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis called out the president’s proposed border deal as a “farce.”
“He wants to let people in.”
President Joe Biden’s latest example of putting politics ahead of the people left him gaslighting Americans in a new way about his southern border crisis. As he attempted to reclaim long-lost favorability by shifting blame to the GOP, DeSantis stopped the spin with a reality check on the sham Senate deal and actions Biden could unilaterally take.
In less than two minutes time, America’s Governor laid out how “Stopping the invasion at our border is a matter of will,” as slammed the latest proposal as little more than a green light to foreign nationals.
“This border deal is a farce. Joe Biden already has the authority to shut the border down. He could declare it a national emergency,” argued DeSantis. “He could stop the invasion cold if he wanted to. He does not want to. He wants to let people in.”
Stopping the invasion at our border is a matter of will. It doesn’t require a so-called deal that codifies into law illegal entries in excess of 1.8 million per year and provides incentives for future illegal immigration. pic.twitter.com/ClQToc7nVi

Friday, Biden issued a statement on the proposed legislation from the Senate roped into funds for Ukraine, claiming it would “be the toughest and fairest set of reforms to secure the border we’ve ever had in our country.”
After years of denying the border was open, the president now touted he would have the authority shut it down “when it becomes overwhelmed,” except Border Patrol agents would still be required to allow hundreds of entries into the country to bring the averages back down without stopping the flow.
“Now, this so-called deal purports to give him tools so that he could actually close the border. The reality is that it’s green-lighting up to 5,000 illegals every single day. That’s 1.8 million+ over the course of a year which they’re codifying into law saying that’s an appropriate number of illegal entries,” detailed DeSantis.
“I think the appropriate number of illegal entries is zero,” argued the conservative statesman.
“And our policy should reflect that, that we do not want people coming to this country illegally,” he continued. “We should not be giving benefits and work permits to people that have come to this country illegally.”
The Sunshine State governor has long stood with Texas on securing the border having dispatched Florida law enforcement officials to help as early as 2021. That same year, DeSantis began the process of restarting the Florida State Guard, a military force that, unlike the National Guard, could not be controlled by Washington, D.C.
Now, as Republican-led states from around the country have committed their National Guard to be at the ready should Biden attempt to usurp Texas’ sovereignty following a vacated ruling from the Supreme Court over the use of razor wire, the Florida legislature had DeSantis’ support to pass a bill that would allow the governor to deploy the State Guard to the border under an existing Emergency Management Assistance Compact.
Hammering home the disparate use of their executive powers, DeSantis concluded in part, “So Biden has the authority. He doesn’t have the will. He doesn’t have the political philosophy to want to actually solve the problem. Meanwhile, the country continues to get weaker and the problem is gonna continue to persist. So this is a question of leadership. It’s a question of will.”
