President Joe Biden is being called upon to create a Civilian Climate Corps (CCC) through the use of an executive order, resurrecting one of the components of the original Green New Deal with two of the most radical Democrat lawmakers leading the charge.
On Monday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Senator Ed Markey (D-Mass.) were among left-wing lawmakers who sent a letter to Biden urging him to establish what could end up being a standing army of committed climate zealots rife for the potential of mischief and to do so outside of the democratic process with no debate and no vote.
The letter – which is signed by over four dozen other Democrats – coincides with another letter from more than 50 left-wing activist groups calling for the president to create the CCC with the stroke of his pen.

Invoking the spirit of iconic Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelt, the lawmakers are seeking to exploit fearmongering that links recent adverse weather events including the deadly wildfires that incinerated Lahaina, Maui last month to climate change as the reasoning for their push to establish the CCC.
“With deadly heat, dangerous floods, rising seas, and devastating wildfires — including those that ravaged Maui last month — the climate crisis demands a whole-of-government response at an unprecedented scale,” the letter from the lawmakers begins.
The push for the new Climate Corps has cited FDR’s Civilian Conservation Corps which was created as a part of his New Deal as a historical precedent and is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the creation of the AmeriCorps program.
“A central coordinating body, overseen by the White House, will be essential to create a successful and cohesive Civilian Climate Corps,” the letter reads. “Through interagency collaboration, as well as coordination with state climate corps, other state entities, and local non-profit organizations, your Administration can realize the vision of a Civilian Climate Corps that establishes a unified front in the face of climate change — one that looks like America, serves America, and puts good-paying union jobs within reach for more young adults.”
The other letter to Biden, spearheaded by the far-left Sunrise Movement also cites Roosevelt’s Civilian Conservation Corps only with the new and improved version needing to “correct the racially exclusionary practices” of the original in order to advance “environmental justice” with “justice” being another word that, like “democracy,” has been hijacked and repurposed as a cloak for an extreme leftist agenda.

“To combat the interlocking crises of the moment—climate change, racial injustice, a global pandemic, and income inequality—our government has an opportunity to equitably reimagine an idea from the past and tailor it to meet the present and the future,” Markey said in a news release announcing the letter, urging Biden to bypass Congress to create the CCC.
“Rebuilding and strengthening our neighborhoods—especially those that have been devastated by climate change and racist housing and health care policies—and supporting our labor force must be our highest priority in the months and years to come,” the senator added.
“The CCC would put 1.5 million young people to work strengthening our communities and preserving our lands – doing everything from remediating blight and maintaining trails to creating entirely new green spaces,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
“The existential threat of climate change is our greatest challenge, but also our greatest opportunity to protect our natural heritage and build a just future for the generations to come,” said crypto-communist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) who was among those who signed the letter to Biden.
“In the tradition of FDR’s New Deal Civilian Conservation Corps – one of the most successful programs of the era that ensured jobs for millions of working people in maintaining our precious interior and conserving our wilderness – the Civilian Climate Corps for Jobs and Justice Act will create more than a million good-paying jobs, help us protect our natural resources, and move us forward in the fight against climate change. I am proud to work with my colleagues to see the CCC of our time renewed for the challenges ahead,” Comrade Bernie added.
Biden has previously backed the proposed CCC but it didn’t make the cut of the Orwellian-titled Inflation Reduction Act, the gargantuan bill that was a Trojan horse for much of the Green New Deal.
