The moment bar patrons realized they’d have to pay their tabs captured on video

Jack’s American Pub, located in Milwaukee, was offering free drinks if the New York Jets lost their Monday Night Football matchup with the Buffalo Bills.

Starting his very first game for the Jets was former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, thus the motivation for a promotion that packed the house. The future Hall of Fame quarterback only lasted 4 plays before going down with a serious injury — he tore his Achilles heel. With Rogers out — which drew cheers from the crowd — patrons were all but certain New York would lose the game to the talented Bills and drank to their heart’s desire.

Tabs had to be open 15 minutes before kickoff and the promotion only covered drinks, and the bar patrons proceeded to run up their tabs.

And they were losing through much of the game before mounting an impressive comeback in the 4th quarter. The game would go into overtime and the Jets won 22-16 on a stunning 65-yard punt return for a touchdown, which meant there were plenty of steep bar tabs that needed to be paid!

“The mood has changed considerably,” CBS 58 reporter A.J. Bayatpour said live from pub after the game was over. “Take a look. This is the reaction from a bar where people are realizing the bar tabs they’ve been racking up all night — thinking, certainly with Rodgers hurt, the bar was going to be paying that tab — it is setting in. They are going to have to go to the bar and pay that tab.”
