“Some people did something.” If Ilhan Omar, U.S. Representative from Minnesota, had her way this is the dispassionate, vague language we would all use when speaking of September 11th. And she is not alone. Unfortunately, other politicians are taking the same stand: from the Obama/Biden White House to New York City’s Mayor Eric Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul. Each year, they become more brazen about showing disdain for the victims, heroes, and all Americans who want to memorialize the Anniversaries of 9/11.
They want us to forget that on this “date that will live in infamy” – eclipsing Pearl Harbor – Al Qaeda terrorists attacked America on our home soil. These Radical Islamists hijacked four planes and crashed them into the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and, thanks to brave passengers who overtook the terrorists on Flight 93, a Pennsylvania field instead of its D.C. target. This year, these politicians have outdone themselves with outrageous attacks on our bittersweet memories: panic and pain mixed with pride and patriotism.
Every year the Obama/Biden White House does more to try to erase our memories of 9/11 than the year before. Last year, they refused to bail out the 9/11 Tribute Museum, whose income was destroyed by the COVID-19 lockdowns.
Yet they send billions to the Taliban and other terrorist organizations. This left only one 9/11 museum in NYC, the National September 11 Memorial and Museum. But there seems to be a plan to kill this one as well, though stealthily hidden. A new “congestion charge,” backed by New York Governor Kathy Hochul and approved by the federal government, will force visitors in lower Manhattan to pay a $23 toll – not coincidentally where Ground Zero and the remaining museum are located. Needless to say, having to pay such a toll will discourage people from visiting these memorials.
This year, Biden will no-show the major 9/11 commemorations. He will be the first U.S. president since 9/11 to be absent from any of the attack sites where commemorations of the anniversary will be held. Instead of at Ground Zero, the Pentagon, or the Pennsylvania field, he’ll be far, far away in Alaska. His absence, which he lamely attributes to his schedule taking him to India and Vietnam, is tangible evidence of the disregard he gives this day and his desire for us all to literally follow in his footsteps away from honoring September 11th.
As if all this wasn’t enough, the Obama/Biden White House has announced plans to give remaining Guantanamo terrorists a plea deal instead of the death penalty. On the eve of this anniversary, the 9/11 families were sent letters informing them of this, giving them precious little time to voice their disagreement. Clearly, this plea deal is a fait accompli and their voices are likely to be ignored anyway. There are few terrorists left in Guantanamo, thanks to Obama and Biden releasing many of them, only for them to continue to engage in terrorist activities. But, allowing the few remaining terrorists to avoid the death penalty has special significance because they include the principal architect of the 9/11 attacks, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. This is likely another reason Biden is hiding out in Alaska – he doesn’t want to face the wrath of the 9/11 families who feel betrayed and are outraged over sparing these terrorists a trial and death.
But wait, there’s more….
Mayor Adams has pushed the envelope even further by honoring this year’s 9/11 anniversary with an assault on the psyche of New Yorkers. He and the NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban are launching an initiative to support and facilitate the Islamic call to prayer. These calls are set to blare out, interrupting the peace, for over half a mile in each direction, every Friday and during Ramadan. There will be no permit necessary. What could go wrong? For starters, it will trigger PTSD in New Yorkers forced to recall the terror of the 9/11 attack and increase Islamophobia.
Are our politicians so tone-deaf that they think all these moves are acceptable? Or do they know what they’re doing and there are darker motives at play? To cozy up to terrorists, to get Muslim votes, to replace 9/11 in our minds by declaring January 6th as the worst terror attack on American soil, and other dark motives. We must rail against their campaigns to make us forget the horror and significance of 9/11, a reminder of how vigilant we need to be against future terror attacks, because “He who forgets history is doomed to repeat it.”
