Trump addresses Melania’s absence: ‘Do whatever you want to do, I’m with you 100%’

Donald Trump was asked during his much talked about interview with Fox News host Bret Baier how his wife Melania was handling his recent legal problems with the former president now being indicted twice, and Trump insisted the former first lady is with him “100%.”

At the same time, Melania seems to be nowhere in sight as Trump fights the Democrats’ ongoing persecution while simultaneously campaigning for a second term in the White House.

“She is a woman of great dignity and beauty and style,” Trump told Baier, in footage that aired Tuesday night. “She is a very popular first lady, although a lot of people might not know that one way or another.”

He explained that he often sees supporters holding signs at his various rallies that say they love Melania.

“The people love Melania. She’s a very confident person. She feels I’m being very badly mistreated,” Trump said. “And she says, ‘You go ahead and you do whatever you want to do because I’m with you 100%.'”

“So Melania and Barron — fully in?” Baier asked.

“They’re great. They’re great,” he replied.

Melania was present when Trump announced his third presidential bid, and she issued a statement back in May, which the Trump campaign shared this week with the Daily Mail, voicing her support.

“He has my support, and we look forward to restoring hope for the future and leading America with love and strength,” Mrs. Trump said in the release.

The British tabloid published exclusive photos showing Melania and son Barron, 17, getting into SUVs on Wednesday, which was Trump’s 77th birthday, with multiple bags of Louis Vuitton luggage — their destination was unknown.

“And while Trump was being federally indicted in Florida, Melania Trump was seen going to maintenance appointments around Manhattan. She was not at his speech at his Bedminister, N.J., golf club last week when he defended himself against the latest round of charges,” the Daily Mail noted, adding that there have been reports that Melania “was looking to flee the United States this summer as her husband faces multiple legal issues, taking Barron to Europe.”

Her absence has its risks, the newspaper suggested, which is that voters may interpret it “as a lack of support on her part.”

With Melania being scarce on the campaign trail, Trump is face with going up against the wholesome image being portrayed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — his chief rival’s wife Casey DeSantis is seen an an integral part of his campaign and she and their three young children often accompany him on the stump:
