Bloody mayhem erupted at a race in Baja California when drivers were ambushed by gunmen who opened fire on them, a shocking glimpse at the dangers of daily life in a region that is rife with drug cartel violence.
On Saturday afternoon, the participants in the “Cachanillazo” race that took began in the city of Ensenada, around 90 miles south of the southern border, were parked in their “dune buggy” style racing vehicles when the distinctive sound of gunfire from automatic weapons rang out at about 2:15 p.m., by the time it was over, 11 dead bodies were left along the Transpeninsular Highway in the small town of San Vicente,” according to a report from Fox 5 San Diego.
Unconfirmed reports that the attack in Ensenada, Baja California was between members of the Arellano Felix Organization and the Sinaloa Cartel.

Video footage of the shooting and its gory aftermath was posted to social media, showing bullet-riddled racing cars and dead bodies on the ground as heavily armed police troops milled about in the carnage.

On the ground at the scene was Mexican journalist Alfredo Alvarez who on his website, stated that the “massacre in Ensenada stemmed from a confrontation between members of the Arellano Felix Cartel (CAF) and the Sinaloa Cartel,” according to the Daily Mail. “The massacre occurred at the San Vicente gas station, close to where participants in the race fueling up their cars.”
The outlet reports that the details on Alvarez’s website – which is in Spanish – says that the ” State Attorney General’s Office was sending a special team to the crime scene to open an investigation. The Mexican Army, National Guard, and State and National Police were also dispatched to the scene.”

The Mexico Daily Post reported the Mexican Secretary of the Navy reported the seizure of 39 tons of cocaine in Ensenada last week.
“The Secretary of the Navy of Mexico (Semar) reported the seizure of more than 39 tons of cocaine in the port of Ensenada, Baja California,” the outlet reported. “The naval unit reported that “personnel from the Second Naval Region, in coordination with the Customs and Maritime Authorities of the Port of Ensenada, secured three containers, which were on board a container ship and stored approximately 39,820 kilograms inside.” of material contaminated with cocaine,”
“For the above, samples of the aforementioned material were sent to the Pharmacology and Toxicology laboratories of the Secretary of the Navy and the National Customs Agency of Mexico for their respective analysis, giving a positive result for cocaine”, therefore it was made available to the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) for the integration of the corresponding investigation folder,” according nto the Mexico Daily Post.
The Baja slaughter serves as another example of the deadly violence that is standard operating procedure with the drug cartels and it is important to recognize the porous southern border that has been left wide open as a result of President Joe Biden’s illegal immigration policies makes it almost a certainty that such mayhem will bleed over into the U.S.
