Ironic? Alec Baldwin’s character hanged after deadly shooting in leaked scene from set of ‘Rust’

In what feels like an epic case of art mocking life, a leaked scene from the set of Alec Baldwin’s deadly film “Rust” shows the star being dragged to the gallows and a noose being pulled over his sack-covered face after his gunslinging character was reportedly involved in a fatal shooting.

We would normally cry “Spoiler Alert!” but the clip has already gone viral on social media for its irony-soaked ending to a saga that shocked the nation.

And while Fox News Digital reports that “it’s unclear if the actual hanging of Baldwin will be featured in the ‘Rust’ movie,” what we can say with near certainty is, somewhere, in that big theater in the sky, Lee Strasberg is laughing his “method acting” butt off.

As BizPac Review reported, two counts of involuntary manslaughter against Baldwin for the October 2021 fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins while staging a scene for the ill-fated film were dropped earlier this month pending “further investigation.”

“Over the last few days and in preparation for the May 3, 2023, preliminary hearing, new facts were revealed that demand further investigation and forensic analysis in the case against Alexander ‘Alec’ Rae Baldwin, III,” the special prosecutors said. “Consequently, we cannot proceed under the current time constraints and on the facts and evidence turned over by law enforcement in its existing form.”

Baldwin has repeatedly insisted he did not pull the trigger on the gun and had no idea a live bullet was in the prop’s chamber.

According to a Variety source familiar with the matter, the new evidence “indicated that the Colt .45 had been modified prior to the shooting, making it more difficult for the D.A. to prove that Baldwin actually did pull the trigger.”

Days later, the Hunt for Red October star went back to work in Montana on the set of “Rust.”

“We filmed SUPERCELL in Billings. Now outside of Bozeman to complete RUST. Montana is stunning,” Baldwin posted to Instagram. “I’m grateful for all of the support I have received here.”

Though it is unlikely that Baldwin would ever hang for Hutchins’ tragic death, prosecutors made clear that the actor could still face charges.

“This decision does not absolve Mr. Baldwin of criminal culpability and charges may be refiled,” they stressed in a statement following the dismissal. “Our follow-up investigation will remain active and on-going.”

Famed attorney Gloria Allred is representing the film’s script supervisor, Mamie Mitchell, and Hutchins’ mother, father, and sister in separate lawsuits against the actor, and she isn’t backing down.

“Mr. Baldwin should know that we remain committed to fighting and winning for our clients and holding him accountable for pointing a loaded gun at Halyna Hutchins, pulling the trigger and killing her,” Allred said in a statement, according to Fox News Digital. “Mr. Baldwin may pretend that he is not responsible for pulling the trigger and ejecting a live bullet which ended Halyna’s life.”

Meanwhile, many on Twitter are hoping the “Rust” prop department makes another unfortunate accident.

“If the prop gallows were not set properly and Alec Baldwin was actually hanged, should the actor who pulled the lever be charged with manslaughter?” asked one user.

“[A] second prop ‘mishap’ would be amusing,” stated another.

“They should have made an ‘oops’ on that prop as well!” exclaimed a third.

And while many were irked that Fox would give away the climax of the film, many were angry that the ending had the chance to be completed.

Said one disgusted Twitter user: “This film should never have been completed when you consider the issue that surrounds it.”
