Don Lemon went out swinging when he was fired by CNN on Monday, claiming that he was not told directly of his termination and that he had never been given any indication that his job may be in jeopardy.
Of course, the network would deny his allegations but with a subsequent report suggesting Lemon is lawyering up to put the “squeeze” on CNN, it’s now understandable why he may want to get a jump on establishing a favorable narrative.
“I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN I would have thought someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly,” the now-former CNN host tweeted Monday. “At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network.”
CNN Communications answered: “Don Lemon’s statement about this morning’s events is inaccurate. He was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”
Considering Lemon’s disposition on air, which is almost certainly the byproduct of checking more than one diversity box as a gay black man., it should come as no surprise that he will play the victim card here.
On Tuesday, the New York Post said Lemon “is reportedly lawyering up after his surprise ouster from the cable news network on Monday, setting the stage for a possible legal battle with CNN.
Turns out, Lemon was reportedly under contract with CNN until 2026, and there was around $20 million still remaining on the deal.
“In a clear sign of acrimony, Mr. Lemon has retained the aggressive Hollywood litigator Bryan Freedman to handle his exit. His contract with CNN runs through 2026, according to two people with direct knowledge of his deal.” the New York Times reported.
Former CNN media correspondent Brian Stelter, who was also canned by the network recently, said that Freedman was retained — he claimed Tucker Carlson hired the top entertainment litigator as well.

Freedman reportedly counts former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo and Megyn Kelly, who left NBC after moving there from Fox News, among his clients. Tiffany Cross, the former MSNBC host obsessed with hating on whitey has also retained the attorney.
Lemon could not get out of his own way since being demoted from his prime-time show and moving to “CNN This Morning.”
He allegedly had run-ins with his female anchors and had to undergo “formal training” after being pulled from the air, and stepped into a mess when he claimed 51-year-old Nikki Haley, who is running in the 2024 Republican presidential primary, was past “her prime.”
