After penning a letter to Fox News’ head Rupert Murdoch with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) complaining of the network’s alleged “false election narratives,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) was made to answer whether or not he supported a Democratic boycott of the network.

Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) successor in the House joined Dana Bash for a discussion that unsurprisingly turned to Jan. 6. After Jeffries voiced his displeasure at House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) turning over footage from the Capitol breach to Fox News host Tucker Carlson, promised to begin airing as soon as this coming week, the host posited the potential of a partisan pause to appearances on the rival network.
“Do you as party leader think that Democrats should refrain from going on Fox,” Bash asked noting the congressman’s request for an apology from Murdoch.
“No. I think what should happen right now is that everyone — whether it’s on another network, or whether it is just in the public domain, certainly in Congress — should refrain from perpetrating a big lie, because the Big Lie has consequences,” Jeffries replied using the favored designation of leftists when discussing concerns over election integrity. “And democracy is held together by some basic principles, such as free and fair elections, and the peaceful transfer of power.”
“Those things were undermined, and continue to be undermined, by individuals — extreme MAGA Republicans — who continue to perpetrate the Big Lie, and it has to stop,” he went on.
As previously reported, the letter from Jeffries and Schumer had called out Murdoch’s deposition in a defamation suit from Dominion Voting Systems that alleged “Carlson, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and other Fox News personalities knowingly, repeatedly, and dangerously endorsed and promoted the Big Lie that Donald Trump won the 2020 presidential election,” and demanded hosts “admit on the air that they were wrong to engage in such negligent behavior.”

One can only wonder if Jeffries had witnessed comedian and podcaster Russell Brand tear down MSNBC analyst John Heilemann for contending that Fox News was behaving in a manner of reporting different than leftist-leaning corporate media outlets.
As Brand said on “Real Time with Bill Maher” Friday, “It is disingenuous to claim that the biases that are exhibited on Fox News are any different from the biases exhibited on MSNBC. It’s difficult to suggest that these corporations exist as anything other than mouthpieces for their affiliate owners in Black Rock and Vanguard.”
In all likelihood, and in light of Carlson’s anticipated airing of Jan. 6 footage, Jeffries wants to ensure some Democrats appear on Fox to run interference in defending the narrative as evidence is expected to be presented contrary to what the sham Jan. 6 committee had been contending for months.
