As corporate media attempted to find a foothold to pivot away from the Department of Energy supporting the lab leak origin of COVID, Fox News host Tucker Carlson reintroduced a Chinese virologist to not only back up the claim, but to contend “this was not an accident.”

Over the weekend, The Wall Street Journal reported on how “new intelligence” had led the DoE to conclude that COVID hadn’t come from nature as so often repeated, but from a lab in China. The finding, which made the agency the second to conclude as such following the FBI determining the same with “moderate confidence,” did not, however, go as far as to suggest intent.
Dr. Li-Meng Yan joined “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Monday to share her expertise on the matter and contend that it would “be impossible” for COVID to have leaked unless it was purposeful.
“You said three years ago that you believe this virus was intentionally released by the government you once worked for, the government of China,” Carlson reminded. “Today we’re hearing in this leak to The Wall Street Journal that it was accidental. Do you believe this leak was accidental or intentional?”
“Of course, it was not an accident,” the virologist explained. “I can tell you based on the protocol and also the other surveillance system it will be impossible for the lab leak accidentally happen in such lab and also cause the Wuhan outbreak and also the pandemic.”
Earlier in the program, the host had replayed a clip from a September 2020 interview with the scientist where she said, “From my first report, I can present the solid scientific evidence to our audience that this virus, COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2 virus, actually is not from nature. I work with the top corona virologists in the world. So together, with my experience, I can tell you this is created in the lab. This is from that template owned by China military. And also it is spread to the world to make such damage.”
“‘To make such damage.’Do you believe the Chinese government released this intentionally, on purpose? Did they do this?” Carlson had asked at the time.
“Yes, of course,” she agreed.
As the host went on to paint a broader picture of how China permitted citizens to travel abroad to western nations, likely knowing full well they were carriers of the virus, the doctor suggested that the lab had intentionally contaminated the community, but had “underestimated the transmissibility. That’s why finally it got out of control and caused the local outbreak.”
“However, we should note that CCP government intentionally…let it go over the world to kill millions of people all over the world later,” she claimed.
The scientist’s argument followed Carlson outlining how “America’s entire leadership class, from the government to the intel agencies, to elected officials, to, of course, the media, in unison, spent years trying to hide Chinese culpability for the greatest crime in human history. They cooked up fake papers and bogus data. They attacked anyone who asked the obvious questions. Even people who were in Wuhan at the time, who knew.”
“And you have to ask, ‘Why did they do this?’ Could it be that they were implicated in this, too? They were implicated in creating the worst pandemic in modern history? We’re not sure,” the host noted. “But it’s an amazing story.”
