Conservative firebrand Kari Lake reminded commentator Piers Morgan exactly why she is considered such as she pushed back hard on his blanket dismissal of election integrity concerns: “I frankly don’t give a damn what you think about it.”
The reported marginal defeat of Lake by then-Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs in the 2022 gubernatorial election by less than a percentage point was the topic du jour when the former news anchor joined “Piers Morgan Uncensored” last week. After treating his guest as a potential running mate for former President Donald Trump in his 2024 bid for the White House, Morgan trotted out the oft-repeated lines about there not being evidence of impropriety in November.
“There’s been no independent corroboration that there was anything fraudulent about this election. In fact, it’s pretty clear that you lost to Katie Hobbs,” he argued, refuting the challenges that Lake had brought to court and those that she is actively pursuing.
“There’s a mountain of hard evidence. And when we presented it in our trial, the other side didn’t even dispute the evidence. They didn’t,” she shot back. “We can’t continue to run elections this way. And we know that we won and we’re going to continue to fight this in a court of law. And it’s really rich that you’re sitting across the pond acting like you know what happened on Election Day.”
“I did not see your smiling face. We had lots of international media here covering Election Day in Arizona. Yours is one face I didn’t see,” Lake added to suggest his absence prevented him from knowing what had actually transpired on the ground where, as she pointed out, the majority of voting locations utilized by Republicans in the Grand Canyon State experienced some sort of complications that may have disenfranchised voters.
Morgan persisted all the same and contended “there does come a point when for the future of democracy, you and Donald Trump have to accept at some point you lost an election. Otherwise, the entire system collapses.”
The former gubernatorial candidate was willing to acknowledge that definitively fair loss would be something that she could concede, but that was not what she or her fellow Arizonans had witnessed as she described, “I can’t walk 10 feet without an Arizonan saying, ‘I voted for you. Everybody I know voted for you. Our ballot was rejected on Election Day. Please keep fighting for us.’ I’m fighting for the people of Arizona. And I don’t mean any offense to you, but I frankly don’t give a damn what you think about it. I’m fighting for the people of Arizona.”
“No offense taken whatsoever,” Morgan replied before adding, “All I know from my lofty place here in London, and I admit I wasn’t in Arizona, all I know is that all the official fact-checking entities that have looked into all the claims do not conclude that you did anything other than lose that election.”
To that, Lake was just as fiery with Morgan as she slammed, “Piers, did you just fall off the turnip truck? We know about the fact checkers and we’ve seen them. This has all been revealed. Half of them are leftists working for Facebook. Let’s be real. Okay?”
A couple of weeks earlier, Lake had been questioned as to whether or not she would be vying for the 2024 Senate race in Arizona to face off against incumbent Sen. Krysten Sinema (I). As reported, she had responded, “I really believe this is the fake news putting this out trying to take the focus off of our election lawsuit.”
“We have the strongest election lawsuit this country has ever seen; it is in the appellate court, it’s moving forward quickly,” she went on. “The fake news, of course, doesn’t want to cover that, so they want to create some palace intrigue on what’s happening.”

Lake continued along those lines as she told Morgan who wondered if she would ever accept a loss, “We are taking it to the Supreme Court.”
