‘Lots of words, no solutions’: Jean-Pierre claims WH ‘hard at work’ amid record 2.4M border encounters

The Biden administration’s hopes of avoiding backlash over recent illegal border crossing data backfired Monday as Twitter responded to the administration’s declaration that they are “working hard” to manage “this new challenge.”

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol quietly released figures late Friday and for the second month in a row, illegal immigration surpassed historical highs. Reporters followed up on September’s 227,000 border encounters, bringing 2022’s total to more than 2.4 million, during White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s weekly address.

“Nearly 2.4 million encounters happened at the southern border [in 2022],” one reporter said. “That’s the most ever…what’s the White House’s explanation as to what happened and why?”

Instead of taking accountability and addressing the crisis, Jean-Pierre attempted to deflect, blaming Republicans for using the mass of illegal border crossers “as a political pawn.”

“We’re seeing, again, a different challenge ahead of us that we’re dealing with,” Jean-Pierre said. “But, you know, and we’ve talked about this while we’re trying to deal with the challenges, as you all know, you have Republican governors who are using these migrants, using these folks who are trying to flee communism, falling regimes and economic collapse. As I just mentioned, they’re using them as a political pawn, which you’ve heard us call out many times from here, and you’ve heard the president call out. We are hard at work in driving toward a regional solution to manage this new challenge.”

Despite the administration’s claim to be “working hard” to manage “this new challenge,”  2022 illegal immigration is a 37 percent increase over 2021 and a 417 percent increase over 2020.

Jean-Pierre doubled down on her deflection, avoiding the numbers altogether and reiterating how hard the administration is working.

“So we are doing the work every day to make sure that we deal with what we’re seeing in the southern border,” Jean-Pierre said.

The mockery on Twitter came from far and wide.

“Sorry border Democrats, but this is the White House’s response to the crisis that is going to sink your campaigns in the home stretch,” Republican communicator Matt Whitlock tweeted.

Users were quick to point out that Biden’s immigration policies are to blame for the influx of “illegals.”

“Amazing how somehow we’ve gone 2 years without anyone in the Biden Admin being forced to concede that RELEASING illegals into the US by the millions (instead of deporting them) is the reason more illegals are crossing than has ever occurred before in the long history of nations,” Trump advisor Stephen Miller wrote.

Some joked that Biden’s abysmal economic policies should be pushing people to flee from, rather than to the U.S.

“If this were true would there not be a net outflow? I know I’m not alone in saying I’d love to flee the failing Biden regime and it’s devastating economic policies,” said Florida Board of Education member Ryan Petty.

“Yes, hard at work at letting everyone in. Lots of words. No solutions,” former U.S. congressional candidate Amanda Makki tweeted.

“Literally nobody (by which I mean to include KJP herself) is buying what she’s trying to sell,” radio talk show host Ross Kaminsky tweeted. “Well, she seems clueless enough that maybe she believes it. Can’t believe she still has her job. Says a LOT about Biden admin standards, and that’s reemphasized by plenty of others.”

Several called out Jean-Pierre’s attempt to paint instability in Central and South America as the primary driver of the crisis.

Frustrated citizens hope voters see through the smoke and mirrors act rather than buying into the claims that the administration is “working hard” to manage “this new challenge.”
