‘Dr. Doom’ predicts grim future for NYC that involves ‘nuclear weapons’ or ending up ‘underwater

New York University economics professor Nouriel Roubini was given the nickname “Dr. Doom” for being way out front in predicting the financial crisis of 2007-2008 that nearly nuked the global banking system and he has even more ominous predictions when it comes to New York City, and the United States in general, which he lays out in a new book that’s generating buzz, largely because it reinforces Democrat talking points on climate change.

In the just-released “MegaThreats: Ten Dangerous Trends That Imperil Our Future, And How to Survive Them,” the 64-year-old sounds the alarm that even if the Big Apple doesn’t go up in a mushroom cloud from a Russian nuclear missile then it’s likely going to be underwater anyway, causing him to seriously reconsider whether he wants to continue living there.

“There’s a scenario in which, in the next twelve months, Russia uses tactical nuclear weapons against Ukraine and then they attack NATO and we start a conventional war with Russia. The first nuclear weapon is gonna go to New York,” Roubini said. “Being in New York City is not safe.”

Even if NYC isn’t rendered uninhabitable due to the nuclear fallout, there could be a super storm that will be “much, much worse” than Hurricane Sandy which flooded the city in 2012, he told the New York Post. ”In the next 20 years, most of downtown New York is gonna be underwater.”

The nation’s largest city isn’t going to be the only place fit for marine life according to Roubini who mocked New Yorkers who fled the crime-ridden dystopia for the refuge of red states like Florida and Texas to escape from the hellish conditions brought out by years of Democrat rule.

“A lot of real estate is going to be stranded because of global climate change,” he said.  “People have stupidly moved from New York to Miami, and from San Francisco to Austin, but Florida is going to be flooded and Texas is going to be too hot to survive there,” said “Dr. Doom” during a recent edition of Bloomberg’s “Odd Lots” podcast, a terrible prediction that must have buoyed the spirits of the climate change zealots in the White House, the Democratic Party and the media which serves as their propaganda megaphone.

He also predicted that deteriorating conditions will force the United States to absorb Canada.

“Florida’s gonna be underwater — all of it, not just Miami. Most of the South will be too hot to live. You’ll have drought from Colorado to California and wildfires like crazy all over the West. We’ll have a great migration to the Midwest, into Canada. We’ll have to take over Canada. Literally,” he said to the New York Post although being careful to say that the coming takeover of the fascist dictatorship north of the border won’t be done militarily.

“I’m not joking,” he insisted. “The Canadians are gonna say no but they don’t have the army. They have the land and the water, but no army to defend it. Unless they unify with us, everybody’s gonna try and take over Canada. They need a well-armed US to protect them, so we’ll become the United States of North America just out of necessity. I mean, there was a reason Trump wanted to buy Greenland.”

While Dr. Roubini’s climate doomsaying may have earned him fans on the political left, his economic prognosticating runs completely counter to the sunny narrative that’s being pumped out by the Biden regime and the paid liars in the corrupt media and if he’s correct, a recession is the least of the country’s worries.

In an essay for Time magazine, he predicts a “stagflationary crisis unlike anything we’ve ever seen,” far worse than the 1970s which, according to Roubini, will seem like a boom time compared to what’s rapidly approaching.

“When I was growing up, climate change did not exist as a concern yet,” the Turkish-born economist said, according to the New York Post. “Nobody talked about natural resources or superstorms, and the last major global pandemic was in 1918, so that wasn’t a concern. I knew that if I worked and studied hard, I could be anything: a lawyer, an engineer, a banker, a factory worker. And I didn’t have to worry about being displaced by artificial intelligence. We lived in a stable democracy, without extremist political parties. There was some division between right and left, but nothing like the politicization we have today. Nobody was talking about a potential civil war in the US or a violent secession.”

“After he became a minor celebrity in his early 50s, Roubini ended up in the gossip pages as often as the financial report. He vacationed with George Soros and hosted wild parties at his $5.5 million New York loft, decorated with vulva wall art designed by artist Analia Segal. As he bragged to New York Magazine in 2009, most nights he was surrounded by women who ‘love my beautiful mind … I’m a rock star among geeks, wonks and nerds,’” the New York Post reported.

According to Amazon’s description of the new book: “Renowned economist Nouriel Roubini was nicknamed ‘Dr. Doom,’ until his prediction of the 2008 housing crisis and Great Recession came true–when it was too late. Now he is back with a much scarier prediction, one that we ignore at our peril. There are no fewer than ten overlapping, interconnected threats that are so serious, he calls them Megathreats. From the worst debt crisis the world has ever seen, to governments pumping out too much money, to borders that are blocked to workers and to many shipments of goods, to the rise of a new superpower competition between China and the U.S., to climate change that strikes directly at our most populated cities, we are facing not one, not two, but ten causes of disaster. There is a slight chance we can avoid them, if we come to our senses—but we must act now.”
