More signs emerge of Hillary Clinton run in 2024

Though Senate races remain close, Republicans are poised to rout Democrats in the House, meaning after the midterms, talk of course correction will be centered around a 2024 presidential nominee. For political consultant Dick Morris, “more and more signs” are pointing toward one candidate he sees “dusting off Bill’s playbook…”

Those familiar with Morris know him for being an advisor to former President Bill Clinton. So, as he joined WABC’s John Catsimatidis on Sunday as part of “Cat’s Roundtable,” it came as little surprise when he revisited his prediction that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton may be eyeing a third crack at the presidency.

After suggesting the week prior that “some crazy radical like Gavin Newsom, Bernie Sanders…even AOC herself,” might be at the forefront of Democrats’ choices, the pundit chimed in ahead of the the45-minute mark in the audio below with recent comments that he assessed, “are all signals that she is gonna be the moderate candidate for president.”

“I see more and more signs that Hillary’s going to run. Bill…said yesterday that there’s a limit to the number of people the U.S. can absorb. And Hillary a week ago…said Americans do not believe in open borders.”

As previously reported, the president had been speaking with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria when he noted, “there is a limit to how many migrants any society can take without severe disruption and assistance, and our system is based much more on the assumption that things would be more normal.”

Similarly, the secretary had appeared on MSNBC where she argued against Gov. Ron DeSantis’ transport of illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard saying, “So many other Americans–I happen to believe still the majority of Americans–are good-hearted and generous and when people end up on their doorstep in need, they’re going to respond. They’ll feed them and house them and the kids in the AP Spanish class will be let out of high school so they can go and translate. That’s the kind of American spirit that we try to celebrate at the Clinton Global Initiative…nobody wants open borders who has any idea of how government and countries work.”

“These are all signals that she is gonna be the moderate candidate for president,” Morris asserted. “She’s gonna say after the elections, ‘See, the left cost us the House and the Senate. And if we stay with a left-wing candidate in ’24, we’re going to lose the White House. And I’m the only one who will tack to the center and give us a chance at victory.’ And I think that’s her strategy and the reason I know it’s her strategy is it’s the strategy I designed for Bill Clinton in 1992 to get the nomination that year.”

“Hillary is just dusting off Bill’s playbook that I wrote for him and applying it herself this year,” he concluded.

Whether or not Morris’ analysis of Clinton’s intentions is accurate, the premise that Democrats are shying away from President Joe Biden is sound as polls, including a recent ABC News survey, have found only 35 percent of left-leaning voters would support Biden being the nominee again in 2024 while more than half of the same group would rather it be someone else.
