Democrat Pennsylvania U.S. Senate candidate John Fetterman tried to whip up a crowd of supporters who turned out to see him make his sales pitch over the weekend as he seeks to fend off celebrity television physician Dr. Mehmet Oz to fill the seat held by Republican Pat Toomey who is retiring.
Fetterman, the current lieutenant governor of the Keystone state, traveled to the hometown of good old Joe from Scranton to shore up support amidst criticism over this reluctance to debate Oz as well as his peculiar mannerisms and syntax fumbles that have some questioning whether he is physically and mentally fit for the rigors of a 6-year stint in D.C. after being stricken by a stroke earlier this year.
During his rally, Fetterman did nothing except bolster the arguments from his critics that he has absolutely “no business running for the US Senate.” in the words of one Twitter user, and while friendly media touted the turnout as being more than 1,000 people, video highlights of the event show that those in attendance weren’t exactly brought to their feet by the rousing delivery of his message, not to mention that the numbers appear to have been grossly overinflated.

At one point, with no consideration as to the obvious irony, Fetterman declared, “No one takes a clown serious, but give a clown a vote and then that’s serious.”
Fetterman, who continues his barnstorming of the state in advance of decision day took to Twitter to tout his visit to President Joe Biden’s hometown.

Thank you *so* much for coming out on a Saturday afternoon 🥰

However, others on Twitter were far less impressed by the candidate’s address to the Scranton faithful.
“This is brutal. How could anyone vote for this? Joe Biden could run circles around this guy cognitively and that’s not at all a compliment to either of them. 😳🤦🏻♂️,” tweeted conservative commentator Robby Starbuck.

“God Bless you sir, I do hope you’re ok. You should not run and take care of yourself, everyone knows that. Pennsylvania needs someone who can govern and serve. It’s clear that is not possible,” wrote one user.

“I hold no ill will toward Mr. Fetterman. But honestly, please, let’s be real,” another user wrote. “This man has no business running for the US Senate.”

Other reactions from Twitter:
He sounds like Chris Farley trying to tell the “I can get a good look at a t-bone” joke in Tommy Boy.

Remember they framed him as the “working class” guy who was going to save the town that Republicans destroyed. That’s where the sweatshirt thing started too, though it’s morphed into the turtleneck combo to hide the lump.

We need to have a debate between @KamalaHarris and @JohnFetterman . I know there’s no race there, but damn it would be excruciatingly hilarious.

Dr. Oz has struggled to gain traction in a race that is key for control of the Senate but Fetterman is lurching toward the finish line and the more people see of him, the greater the chance becomes that they will conclude that he isn’t up to the job.
