GOP Gov warns Schumer ‘they’re going to get what they ask for’ after dumping millions on MAGA candidate

Democrat PACs across the country are supporting “extreme” Republican candidates in hopes of forcing Republicans to vote blue in November, but moderate politicians warn the policy will “massively backfire.”

“They’re going to get what they asked for,” said New Hampshire Republican Governor Chris Sununu during an appearance on American’s Newsroom Monday. “I mean they really are, they are going to get the extreme, what you could call extreme candidates, winning in November because people are fed up with inflation. They’re fed up with gas prices. It’s a horrible strategy.”

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is backing a PAC in New Hampshire that has poured millions of dollars into the campaign of retired Army General Don Bolduc, a far-right vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump and staunch believer that the 2020 election was rigged and stolen.

Bolduc faces state Senator Chuck Morse who political strategists believe is the strongest contender to take down former Democratic Governor and first-term Senator Maggie Hassan. But the GOP may lose that opportunity if Bolduc wins the nomination.

The Senate Majority PAC placed a $3.2 million ad attacking Morse prompting a GOP-backed PAC to spend $3.5 million in support of Morse.

“Maggie Hassan and her dark money allies just confirmed they know what we’ve known all along, Chuck Morse is surging in the polls and is the best-positioned candidate to defeat her this November,”  Maya Harvey, Morse campaign spokeswoman, told the Washington Free Beacon. “Chuck Schumer can throw as many daggers as he wants, but Chuck Morse is a career volunteer.”

Democrat-backed PACs have also attempted to influence the state’s Republican primary, distributing flyers promoting Trump-aligned candidate Bob Burns in the Second Congressional District.

“It’s a horrible strategy,” Sununu said. “I think it should be banned, by the way. I hate this Super Pac stuff. I hate this dark money stuff, I hate – and by the way, I think I’m with pretty much 98% of America when I say that we want, if folks want to raise money for their campaigns in their canvassing, that’s fine. But you got to bring some reforms in to fix this sort of thing.”

New Hampshire is not alone. Democrat-backed PACs spent $44 million supporting far-right Republican candidates in California, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Maryland under the belief that these candidates will be easier to defeat in mid-term elections, ensuring they retain control of the Senate.

“And I just think this strategy is going to massively backfire on the Democrats,” Sununu said.

In Illinois, Democratic Governor J.B Pritzker and the Democratic Governor’s Association spent $35 million on ads to influence Illinois’ Republican gubernatorial primary, more than any office is believed to have ever spent to meddle in another party’s primary, making the Illinois governor’s race the most expensive non-presidential election in United States history.
