MSNBC guest rants against ‘evil’ Republicans: ‘We are at war with these people’

One of MSNBC’s regular contributors erupted into an unhinged, divisive, hateful rant against Republicans during a segment Saturday.

Speaking on MSNBC’s “Cross Connection,” contributor Roland Martin said point-blank that, in his eyes, Republicans are “evil.”

He made the bombastic accusation while praising President Joe Biden for the equally divisive primetime address he delivered last week.

“We are at war with these people. These folks are evil. They have allowed evil into their house with Donald Trump. He has now dominated the party. This evil is spreading. And when you are in a war footing, you have to respond accordingly. It’s about time President Joe Biden decides get tough,” he said.

“It’s about time his advisors stop being weak and stop being impotent and not fighting back. What these people want to do to this country is destroy democracy. They want to rig elections. And so it requires you to stand strong. You don’t walk comments back. You don’t wilt under the pressure.”

His one-sided commentary neglected to take into consideration that, in the eyes of Republicans, Democrats are the ones trying to rig elections. After all, Democrats want Americans to be able to vote without first proving their identity. Democrats also want illegal aliens voting.

Martin also seemed unaware that, in the eyes of Republicans, it’s Democrats who want to destroy democracy. After all, they want to eliminate the filibuster, abolish the Second Amendment, pack the Supreme Court, end the Electoral College, and do away with the U.S. Constitution.

Continuing his remarks, Martin then complained about Republicans’ anger over being called “semi-fascists” by the president.

“Republicans and conservatives, they are weak. All they do is whine and complain. ‘Oh my god, how could they call us semi-fascists.’ They have called Democrats Marxists. They have called them communists. They have called them socialists. They have called them pedophiles. And all of a sudden, now you get hit, and now you start whining,” he said.

“Well, guess what, Democrats. Guess what, Biden. … You keep hitting, you keep pounding, because this is about the future of our children. I’ve got 13 nieces and nephews, and I’ll be damned if I’m going to leave a country for them run by these crazed, deranged folks who want to impart evil in every facet of our society.”

It’s true that Republicans have called Democrats Marxists, communists, and socialists, though in fairness, a number of prominent Democrats do identify as socialists.

Regardless, Martin’s remarks provoked accusations of projection.

During an appearance on Fox News’ Jesse Watters Primetime” late last month, Victor Davis Hanson of the Hoover Institution provided example after example of this very frequently observed phenomenon of Democrat projection.

“The left projects. So if Christopher Steele … a Clinton operative, they draw on Russian sources to smear Donald Trump, and then they call it Trump collusion. … I mean, nobody on the right said let’s junk the 233-year-old Electoral College; [the] 180-year-old filibuster; the 150-year-old, nine-person Supreme Court. Nobody [on the right] said let’s bring in two more states and end the idea for 60 years of a 50-state union,” he said.

“And then when you look at what they’ve actually done … nobody in the Republican Party ever tore up the State of the Union address on national TV like Nancy Pelosi. No speaker of the House. Not Newt Gingrich. Not anybody else. And they never said you can’t have these people on committees. That was a revolutionary thing to do in the House.”

His point was that Democrats keep doing or promoting crazy things, but then turning around and accusing Republicans of being the crazy ones.

Similarly, Martin accused Republicans of being evil, yet he’s the one who sounded evil.

It brings to mind “The Twilight Zone” story about Oliver Crangle, a judgmental man who spent his days accusing everybody else of being evil and claiming that when “Four O’Clock” arrived, they’d all turn two-feet tall.

Yet when “Four O’Clock” did finally arrive, he was the only one who shrank …
