NYC shelter dwellers miffed migrants are getting special treatment and lots of goodies

American shelter dwellers in New York City are a little miffed that newly-arrived migrants are apparently going to the front of the line when it comes to services and free stuff.

Seventeen migrants were recently spotted boarding a bus from the Bellevue Men’s Shelter en route to a homeless center in Brooklyn. They all donned what appeared to be new clothing and carried identical brand-new black backpacks, the New York Post reported.

One man named Daniel Reyes from Honduras said he had been at the shelter for about a month.

“The gangs — no good. They come to the United States,” he said.

But local homeless users of the shelter said the migrants are treated like royalty compared to citizens like them.

“We’ve all been here waiting, going through this process, and let me tell you: They’re getting everything real quick,” said Ronald Francois, 55, a Navy veteran from Queens. “They got more in four or five days than I got in 29! They’re brushing us aside.”

According to the outlet, some unconfirmed “asylum-seekers” said they got frustrated waiting for a bed in New York City and used charity money to bus themselves to Washington, D.C., apparently expecting better treatment from the city whose mayor has pleaded unsuccessfully with the Department of Defense for a National Guard troop deployment to help with the influx of migrants.

“They were either turned away or confused by the situation because there were a lot of people waiting for intake that day,” a source said. They returned time and again to the Bellevue shelter before deciding to head to D.C.

NYC Mayor Eric Adams recently complained that his city’s homeless shelters were overrun, which would be an indication of how full they already are considering he has taken on a fraction of the number of migrants – both legal and illegal – that border states deal with on a daily basis thanks to the Biden regime’s anti-citizen policies on immigration. Some of those migrants in New York said they were directed by Biden regime officials at the border to head to the Big Apple, the Post reported.

But Adams has asserted that many of the migrants were duped into busing to NYC by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

“Some of the families are on the bus that wanted to go to other locations, and they were not allowed to do so,” he said. “They were forced on the bus.”

Abbott’s office rejected that claim and said that every migrant voluntarily signs a waiver before they get on a bus.

On Thursday, Department of Homeless Services officers prevented reporters from interviewing migrants at the Bellevue Men’s Shelter as they tried to confirm Adams’ allegations.

“If you need to talk to our clients, call 43 Beaver St., 17th floor!” one officer said.

One 25-year-old migrant in Del Rio, Texas named Javier told the outlet he was boarding the first bus he could with the hopes of making his way to NYC where he said a friend resided.

“I’m a lot closer to New York in Washington than I am here,” he said. “I heard there is a shelter where you can stay for some time until you’re able to get on your feet financially.”

Javier said he was robbed and had to bribe officials as he trekked to the U.S., and thus he is thankful for the free ride from Gov. Abbott, calling it “a blessing because I don’t have money to keep going.”

“Any help that I can get is a godsend,” he added.

Some migrants interviewed in San Antonio, Texas said they were eager to get to New York City as well.

“The only thing I want right now is to be able to stay in a shelter where I can stay for at least a week, so I can work and earn a little money to find a place to live for my family,” said Cesar Sandoval Guerrero, 26.

Guerrero told the Post he fled Venezuela with his wife and two young children in tow after finding himself unable to make ends meet on wages as a national-guard member and being advised to extort protection money from his neighbors in order to make a living.
