Kari Lake ‘not a fan’ of busing migrants to Dem cities, ‘makes for a cute photo op’

Democrat mayors in D.C. and New York City are having fits over the busloads of illegal immigrants who have been shipped to their cities from Republican border states but Arizona gubernatorial hopeful Kari Lake isn’t down with the idea, suggesting that it does little to solve the real problem.

Fresh off of her big win in Arizona’s GOP primary, the Trump-backed former television reporter appeared at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Dallas where, during a panel discussion on illegal immigration, she criticized current Governor Doug Ducey as well as Governor Greg Abbott of Texas who have been relocating the migrants to the Democrat-controlled areas.

After expressing her confidence that Arizona voters will reject far-left Democrat Katie Hobbs in November, Lake emphasized that it is going to take a “strong governor” to address the illegal immigration problem and that simply moving them from one part of the country to another is counterproductive.

“What happens in Arizona when it comes to the border, doesn’t remain in Arizona,” she said. “It goes everywhere, and everywhere I go people say ‘build the wall and secure the border’ and we will do that and we think other states will come in. We’re going to ask for their help and have an interstate compact and if they can send their National Guard to help us out, if they can send resources, we’ll work with them, and together we will get our border secure and eventually, the other border states will then start to do the same thing.”

“Now I’m not a fan of bussing people here illegally into other cities,” Lake continued. “It makes for a cute photo op, but it just takes people who shouldn’t be here and moves them further in.”

“I think we should bring the buses and drive them to the border, and then send them back the other way because we can’t have everybody coming in,” she said.

Noting that the foreign invaders aren’t solely coming from Mexico but “from all over the world,” Lake said, “We know for a fact, the stats show we’ve got thousands of people coming here who have murder, who are murderers or have a murder rap…, we have sex assault suspects, we have drug, obviously, people running drugs across have a drug rap, but we can’t have these criminals coming in.”

“They’re not all criminals, but we don’t want any criminals coming in, any terrorists coming in and we certainly don’t want people coming in who are going to be taking our jobs, driving our wages down and then be indentured servants to the cartels,” she added. “We’re not going to remain a country if we allow that to happen.”

Lake’s remarks came as Governor Abbott released a statement announcing that the first group of migrants has been successfully bused from Texas to New York City.

“The 1st bus of migrants has arrived in NYC,” he wrote. “Biden refuses to do his job, so Texas continues to take unprecedented action to secure our border.”

“NYC is the ideal destination for these migrants,” Abbott added. “They can receive the services Mayor Adams has boasted about w/in the sanctuary city.”
