Democrats are having a serious case of buyer’s remorse over their choice of President Joe Biden with many eager to cast him aside in favor of a younger and fresher candidate in 2024 who is less of a liability with voters, and one name that has been brought up is Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
According to attorney and political strategist Michael Starr Hopkins, there are no candidates who could possibly match the star power of AOC whom he believes has the ability to “electrify a nation” and prevent Republicans from recapturing the White House behind either former President Donald J. Trump or Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the two candidates who appear most likely to win the party’s nomination.
In a guest column for The Hill, Hopkins describes the socialist diva whom he likens to Barack Obama as “the future of the Democratic Party,” suggesting that her prowess as an influencer “is a blueprint for Democrats trying to act less like mannequins and more like humans.”
“AOC wields a superpower that is rarely found in Washington: She isn’t afraid to lose. Her 2018 victory wasn’t just historic, it was shocking, and felt predestined — much like when we first saw a brilliant speaker with a funny name and big ears remind us that through hope and change we could put our country on a new course,” Hopkins gushed. “AOC has the ability to tell the story of her generation. She’s Barack Obama if Barack Obama was an actual progressive. I love Obama, but he was a moderate who sounded like a progressive.”
The smitten Hopkins added, “There is no denying that AOC would boost GOP turnout as a result of coverage on right wing networks built to scare elderly white voters. But she would electrify the party’s base, turn out the youth at record levels and bring the party together by acknowledging the threat posed by electing Trump Republicans.”
Twitter reacted to Hopkins’ hot take that Ocasio-Cortez is the savior of the Democratic Party with many finding the idea to be ludicrous.
In which an opinion writer admits in his piece that her achievement is “influencer” on the socials.
The last thing we need is elevating more folks in governance based on their apacity to earn engagement metrics without other records of achievement besides a degree of celebrity.

AOC the future face of the Democratic Party? Do you really want to hand the White House back to Republicans?

A little early to be ripping bong hits.

Or not, since she still hasn’t actually done anything

Take it from this Democrat, no she isn’t.

If this happens the republicans might get a Reagan level victory again. Seems like a poor strategy to throw a radical, inexperienced nobody who has no real clout out as your party’s representative when the party’s approval rate is tanking…

She is totally unqualified to be in the job she currently has. How can she be Democrats’ best shot at trump?

“AOC is the Democrats’ best shot against Trump in 2024”

A social media star who is photogenic. Is she smart? Has she accomplished anything besides a career in politics? Will her simplistic Marxist ideas work? No, no & no.
Does any of that matter to an increasing citizen base that doesn’t want to work & loves free stuff? Again no.

My thoughts exactly. I wouldn't vote for her

If true, the Dems will lose for sure. This woman is as dumb and useless as a slug. https://t.co/WD3UR4vLYz

“There will never be another Barack Obama, but I have a feeling we’ll be saying the same about AOC. When opportunity meets preparation and history creates the moment, the cream of the crop always rises, leaving everyone else behind,” Hopkins wrote.
