Disgraced former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo is adapting to life after being fired by the network as his professional and personal scandals piled up and has now resurfaced with a new podcast, although he may have already alienated a sizable portion of his potential audience with remarks about the January 6 committee.
On the latest edition of “The Chris Cuomo Project,” which is the first major component of his career relaunch, Cuomo critiqued the Nancy Pelosi-Liz Cheney joint venture that has failed in a big way to captivate the public and has taken a summer break to resume with a modified mission that – at least according to committee member Adam Schiff – is going to zero in on Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas next.
Among the hundreds of millions of Americans who are unimpressed with the J6 dog and pony show is “Fredo” who appears to be debuting a new persona of moderation as his legal battles with his former employer play out and he seeks to rehabilitate his tainted image.
“My question is are we really learning enough about what matters?” Cuomo said of the grotesque political spectacle. “Or, is this starting to play like a gotcha game?”
“Like the impeachment,” he added.

“Again, not that the issues that were involved in impeachment don’t matter, but you knew you were never going to have the outcome,” he said. “The argument was, ‘well, but this is what we have to do, this is our job.’ I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know that that kind of fomenting of tension, that kind of protracted process when you know, you weren’t going to remove the president.”
“Was that really in America’s interest?” Cuomo asked. “Certainly debatable.”
“But getting Trump for treason? Why even go there? They go there because it fuels the fringe aspects of the party,” he added.
Cuomo would never have been able to deliver such surprising remarks on CNN which invested heavily in coverage of the Soviet-style hearings – a festering boil on American democracy – to recapture some of the audience that it lost when Trump left office by fueling the revenge fantasies of Resistance dead-enders who, barring Cheney pulling a rabbit out of her hat, will come away as disappointed as they did when the two impeachments bombed and special counsel Robert Mueller was revealed to be a doddering old coot with little knowledge of his own investigation.
“You know, you wind up undercutting your purpose when you exaggerate the desired outcome or consequence. It reminds me of when the right wanted to get Clinton criminally for lying about messing around,” he said. “But politicians making politics into a policing action with criminal consequences? No, thanks. Not with Clinton, not with Trump and his cronies,”
“The January 6 hearings lose their impact on consensus because of the intended consequences pursued,” he said. “We all know now what went down and that Trump and co. acted horribly. Regular people get it. If there are crimes, especially on that elector front, let the Department of Justice figure it out. Let the local prosecutors figure it out. We don’t need politicians to tell our prosecutors what to do.”
“And the media, look it fans the flames,” Cuomo added, saying that the media should be pushing back. “You know, not all flames need to be fed, some need to be smothered.”
Reactions rolled in from Twitter users on the new Cuomo.
He’s desperate for viewers. Hoping we don’t remember his lies on CNN. He’s going to lie here hoping we’ll fall for it.

He’s trying to rebrand himself in trying to straddle the fence in the hopes that he’ll be picked up by any other news outlet.

Sounds like he’s just laying the groundwork for when Republicans are in control and they have to be against all the things they’ve been doing.

Trying to adopt a lukewarm centrist @smerconish style shtick? Good luck.
