A video appears to show illegal immigrants bussed to Washington, D.C. from other states being led to St. Peter’s Catholic Church just steps from the U.S. Capitol as Mayor Muriel Bowser declares an emergency.

The footage was shot Friday and shows the migrants entering the church in the notorious sanctuary city. It was taken just feet away from the entrance of the church and was first aired by Fox News Digital. The church is less than two miles from the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement headquarters.

St. Peter’s has announced that it will provide assistance to illegal immigrants who arrive by bus in D.C.

The church posted on Facebook earlier in July that it was seeking “sturdy shoes as part of our relief efforts for migrants arriving in D.C. by bus.”

“Sneakers or sturdy shoes only — no flip-flops, please,” the house of worship requested. “Donations can be delivered to the parish hall on Wednesdays or Fridays.”

The Catholic church also posted earlier a link to a sign-up page for volunteers to assist with their efforts to “provide meals, respite, and transportation help for hundreds of immigrants who are arriving in DC by bus daily.”

“St. Peter’s will be providing space, materials goods, meals, and volunteers to help welcome immigrants who are arriving in DC by bus daily,” a description from the St. Peter’s sign-up page stated. “We have a number of different areas of need: welcoming & assisting guests, hall clean up, on-call transportation, and donating toiletries, OTC medical items, diapers & wipes, backpacks, clothes, baby strollers, and bath towels.”

The church also asked on the sheet for volunteers to help illegal immigrants enter the church through the C Street entrance, which appears to be the same entrance used in the video.

Bowser, who has touted D.C. as a sanctuary city for years that accepts illegal immigrants as a human rights issue, requested the National Guard be activated indefinitely due to the influx of migrants, calling it a “humanitarian crisis.”

“I’ve asked for the deployment of the Guard as long as we need the Guard to deal with the crisis that we expect to escalate,” Bowser declared. “The number of people crossing the border seeking asylum we expect to only go up. And we need to make sure that there is a national response, not an ad hoc, city-by-city, state-by-state response.”

According to Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s office, more than 5,100 migrants have arrived in DC from Texas on more than 135 buses.

The mayor’s office says the city is at a “tipping point,” according to CNN.

Bowser and New York City Mayor Eric Adams have been very vocal about migrants being sent to their cities, blaming Arizona and Texas for those left on their doorsteps.

The mayor’s office is requesting to convert the DC Armory, Joint Base Bolling, Fort McNair, or another “suitable federal location in the National Capital Region” into a processing center for illegal immigrants. The regional welcome center originally meant to aid the migrants in Montgomery County, Maryland, is at capacity, according to the request.

Abbott’s office claims Bowser’s request for help from the National Guard proves the need for the White House to better address its immigration policies.

“Washington, DC, finally understands what Texans have been dealing with every single day, as our communities are overrun and overwhelmed by thousands of illegal immigrants thanks to President (Joe) Biden’s open border policies,” Abbott’s press secretary Renae Eze declared in a statement to CNN.

“If the mayor wants a solution to this crisis, she should call on President Biden to take immediate action to secure the border – something he has failed to do,” Eze asserted.
