On Friday afternoon in a Washington D.C. federal court, a jury deliberated less than three hours in finding that the former adviser to President Donald J. Trump was guilty of two counts of contempt of Congress for declining to respond to a subpoena from the Nancy Pelosi-Liz Cheney January 6 committee, a sham of an investigative body that many justifiably believe is more about politics than the pursuit of justice.
The 68-year-old Bannon, who was charged by Joe Biden’s politicized Justice Department after the Democrat-controlled House voted to hold him in contempt last year is the latest example that political enemies of the regime will face retribution while the likes of Hunter Biden and others who have been accused of far worse are protected by the federal government.
Bannon, who will remain free until his sentencing in October on the two misdemeanor charges that could land him in prison for two years, expressed his respect for the jury and vowed to appeal.
“We respect their decision,” Bannon said. “We may have lost the battle here today, but we’re not going to lose this war.”
Defense attorney David Schoen said, “This is round one, that’s what happened. This is a bullet-proof appeal.”
Bannon appeared on Fox News to give his first post-verdict interview on Friday night’s edition of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” where he tore into the “completely lawless” Democrats, the J6 committee and Cheney.
“A guy who tried to murder a gubernatorial candidate in New York was released with no bail. What are we to make of these two events occurring the same day?” Carlson asked, referring to the individual who attacked Rep. Lee Zeldin on stage and was arrested, yet was back on the streets within hours.
“As you can tell, the Democrats are completely lawless and look how they’ve run this committee,” Bannon said. “There’s no ranking member, there’s no minority council, it’s not like the traditional hearings that have galvanized the nation in the past and Tucker, I think it’s one of the reasons that it hasn’t really had that big an impact.”
“You know, when they interviewed the people on the trial I think almost all the working class people didn’t even know what was going on,” he added.
Bannon also emphasized the need for a REAL committee on January 6, 2001.
“We need a commission or committee on Jan. 6,” he said. “It’s got to be with the new Congress, with the Republicans in charge. We’ve got to get to the bottom of the intelligence failures, FBI involvement, DHS involvement, the intelligence services,” he said. “We’ve got to get to the bottom of it.”
Cheney and Dem J6 committee chair Bennie Thompson issued a joint statement after the verdict came down.
The conviction of Steve Bannon is a victory for the rule of law and an important affirmation of the Select Committee’s work.
As the prosecutor stated, Steve Bannon ‘chose allegiance to Donald Trump over compliance with the law.’

“The conviction of Steve Bannon is a victory for the rule of law and an important affirmation of the Select Committee’s work,” the duo wrote. “As the prosecutor stated, Steve Bannon ‘chose allegiance to Donald Trump over compliance with the law.”
“Just as there must be accountability for the events of January 6th, anyone who obstructs our investigation into these matters should face consequences. No one is above the law.”
Madame Speaker hailed it as a “triumph of our system of checks & balances” in a Friday evening Twitter post.
Today, a jury found Trump associate Steve Bannon guilty for defying a lawful Congressional subpoena & obstructing the patriotic work of @January6thCmte.
This is a triumph of our system of checks & balances and a step forward for justice, reaffirming that no one is above the law.

Pelosi’s henchman, J6 committee member and impeachment veteran Rep. Adam Schiff hailed the conviction as a big win for “democracy” in a celebratory tweet.
Steve Bannon thought his proximity to the former president made him above the law.
He was wrong.
For our democracy to function, the law must apply to everyone — equally.
And today justice was served.

The anti-Trump resistance rejoiced after the news broke, celebrating a verdict that was yet another step away from the tradition of equal justice under the law in America turning into a tyrannical abyss that has dark echoes of the old Soviet Union under Vladimir I. Lenin and later, Joseph Stalin.
After much frustration over the fizzling of the Robert Mueller witch hunt, two failed impeachments, the massively hyped J6 committee hearings that have so far been a complete dud and a myriad of fruitless investigations, the walls were once again closing in on the elusive Trump and Twitter exploded in leftist jubilation as leftists and other malignant bad actors spiked the ball.
“Bannon Guilty!!!” Rob Reiner, the corpulent aged actor/director who played Archie Bunker’s pinko son-in-law Meathead rejoiced. “First Big Criminal Domino to fall”

“Remand him now. Lock him up,” wrote bloated lawyer George Conway, husband of former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway and a man who has nourished a near-pathological hatred of the former POTUS.
Remand him now. Lock him up.

“Happy Bannon Conviction Day For Those Who Celebrate,” gloated Lincoln Project grifter Rick Wilson.

Radical leftist radio host Dean Obeidallah tweeted, “Great to see Steve Bannon convicted so quickly by a jury. Hoping that gives DOJ more confidence to indict Donald Trump!!”

Others reacted with obvious outrage over what they seem to feel is a rigged process, a sentiment that is spreading by the day as it becomes harder to ignore the scales of justice being tilted disproportionately in one direction.
Steve Bannon is the latest in a long line of politically motivated convictions under the Biden Regime.
They know Steve is a prominent leader in our movement and are trying to silence him by any means.
This regime is the most crooked in American history.

I stand with Steve Bannon and against Biden's phony convictions.
At this point Biden is no better than Putin and his treatment of political adversaries.

Equal justice doesn't exist in DC. Democrats who commit actual crimes get let off scot free by DC juries while Steve Bannon gets convicted for a bs contempt charge from an illegitimate congressional committee.
— Greg Price (@greg_price11) July 22, 2022
So Steve Bannon could spend more time in jail for respecting executive privilege in the face of a show trial than Comey, McCabe, Strzok, Page, Brennan and Clapper got for all their illegal soft coup efforts against Trump, combined
— Buck Sexton (@BuckSexton) July 22, 2022
This is an outrage. AG Eric Holder defies Congress, Hillary Clinton breaks the law destroys fed records and starts Russian collusion and Hunter Biden has a laptop that chronicles constant illegal and disgusting activity.
Can’t wait to see what Steve Bannon will say @CPAC TX https://t.co/SdgYC4HkLE
— Matt Schlapp (@mschlapp) July 22, 2022
Steve Bannon is found guilty of federal misdemeanors while no one remotely associated with the Epstein human trafficking ring has been held accountable nor has profligate drug addict and serial criminal Hunter Biden. What was that again about equal justice under the law?
— 🇺🇸Lionel🇺🇸 (@LionelMedia) July 22, 2022
The DOJ didn't indict Eric Holder when he ignored a congressional subpoena, but did to Steve Bannon. His real crime is that he consistently calls out the globalization that has hollowed out American industry and attacked American culture. Nancy Pelosi is playing with fire here.
— J.D. Vance (@JDVance1) July 22, 2022
Democrats in Congress get Democrats in DOJ to prosecute a political opponent in a Democratic city. #SteveBannon
— Tom Fitton (@TomFitton) July 22, 2022
The real reason Steve Bannon was found guilty is not because he’s a criminal who acted in contempt of congress, but because he’s a dissident who acted in contempt of the system.
— Eva Vlaardingerbroek (@EvaVlaar) July 22, 2022
The DOJ has set a clear precedent in the Steve Bannon case they cannot escape under a Republican majority. Barack Obama is now a private citizen advising Joe Biden, he better be prepared to be deposed or go to prison under the "Garland Standard" set today.
— Rep. Mary Miller (@RepMaryMiller) July 22, 2022
“The subpoena to Stephen Bannon was not an invitation that could be rejected or ignored,” said US Attorney Matthew Graves who earlier this week declined to charge the Colbert 9 for unlawfully entering the Capitol. “Mr. Bannon had an obligation to appear before the House Select Committee to give testimony and provide documents. His refusal to do so was deliberate, and now a jury has found that he must pay the consequences.”
