Nine staffers for late-night television host Stephen Colbert have been cleared of charges that they unlawfully entered the U.S. Capitol last month, yet another reminder that a two-tiered system of justice exists in America today, one set of rules for connected Democrats and another for everybody else.
On Monday, prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia declined to move forward with the “Colbert 9” who invaded the “temple of democracy,” allegedly with help from House Democrats including impeachment veteran and January 6 committee member Rep. Adam Schiff of California where they filmed skits for CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” that mocked Republicans.
Included among those who were allowed to roam the halls of the Capitol were “Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog,” associate producer Allison Martinez, writer Josh Comers and senior producer Jake Plunkett whose treatment amounted to less than a slap on the wrist while protesters from the January 6. 2021 protests were hunted down like dogs, had their lives destroyed by the feds and locked up, including a 69-year-old grandmother and cancer patient who was sent to prison last week.
“After a comprehensive review of all of the evidence and the relevant legal authority, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia has determined that it cannot move forward with misdemeanor charges of unlawful entry against the nine individuals who were arrested on June 16, 2022 at the Longworth Office Building,” the U.S. Attorney’s office said in a statement.
“The individuals, who entered the building on two separate occasions, were invited by Congressional staffers to enter the building in each instance and were never asked to leave by the staffers who invited them, though, members of the group had been told at various points by the U.S. Capitol Police that they were supposed to have an escort,” the statement read. “The Office would be required to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that these invited guests were guilty of the crime of unlawful entry because their escort chose to leave them unattended.”
“We do not believe it is probable that the Office would be able to obtain and sustain convictions on these charges. The defendants no longer will be required to appear for a scheduled hearing in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia on July 20, 2022,” the feds concluded, letting the smarmy Colbert’s minions off the hook.
The United States Capitol Police (USCP) said in a statement that they “respect the decision that office has made,” but according to a Fox News report, are not happy with the decision.
“Fox News is told the Capitol Police are upset about the decision to drop the charges, especially since the Colbert 9 were told on multiple occasions they weren’t supposed to be there. Sources close to the Capitol Police also tell Fox this undercuts law enforcement as they try to secure the Capitol complex after the riot,” according to the outlet.
8) Fox is told they being loud and shooting skits outside the office of Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO). Fox is told they also performed skits near the office of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH).

Ned Ryun, founder and CEO of the conservative organization American Majority joined Fox News’s Jesse Watters to discuss the news, “This highlights what a lot of people are starting to realize but I want to make this point,” he said.
“We have a bifurcated legal system here in this country in which if you have the wrong political views or the wrong political connections, you have the book thrown at you but if you have the right connections, everything gets dropped, and it’s just a shrug as you walk away,” Ryun added, “and this is a serous problem in this country because one of the fundamental foundational aspects of our republic is the equal application of the law where all stand equal before the law, the law’s equally applied but when the law becomes a political tool to punish political enemies, all bets are off.”
Twitter users expressed outrage at a double standard that has become commonplace in today’s justice system.
The “Colbert 9” arrested for unlawful entry at the US Capital got off the hook because they are liberals. Just like Hunter. The law isn’t equally applied. pic.twitter.com/7zmbW9FyvQ

So Colbert staffers unlawfully in the Capitol face ZERO charges…
But Jan 6th folks unlawfully in the Capitol have face a YEAR in prison…
Unreal.

I trust the same decline to prosecute will be applied to the Jan 6 folks who are only facing trespassing charges.

DC prosecutor drops charges against Colbert 9, welcome to the Socialist States of America. It’s not about equality, it’s about who you know and your political connections! Straight Up BS!

Biden’s DOJ dropped all charges against the Stephen Colbert staffers who illegally entered the Capitol. This announcement comes just days after the Biden DOJ sent a 69 year old grandmother with cancer to prison for peacefully protesting at the Capitol on January 6th. Sick!

Influential leftists are above the law. That’s what the judge said. Republicans go to prison, lefties walk.

Why would the government prosecute one of its chief propaganda outlets?
— Oscar the cat (@ScottWGerber) July 18, 2022
Since the DOJ isn’t prosecuting Stephen Colbert’s crew for unlawfully entering the Capitol, then no J6er should be charged for this either.

One set of rules for Republicans. Another for Liberals.

The politicization of federal legal and law enforcement institutions has shaken the confidence of many Americans who have good reason to believe that the deck will always be stacked against them by the ruling Democrats and their embeds within the bureaucracy, and the disparate treatment of staffers for a top party propagandist isn’t likely to bolster their faith in the system.
