Saying ‘nobody does anything about violent crime in LA,’ Joe Rogan jokes about shooting the homeless

The woke cohort is once again upset with Joe Rogan after leftists took literally a satirical or sarcastic comment about “shooting” the homeless.

In a viral clip, the influential Spotify podcaster and former Los Angeles resident was remarking about the widespread vagrancy problem in California but he really seemed to be emphasizing that L.A. County’s Soros-backed,  soft-on-crime top prosecutor is more interested in social justice than criminal justice in violence-ridden and drug-infested areas.

“And then we’re on the underpass, and there’s porta-potties, not one either, like four, like a deck of porta-potties. And then someone has a car parked there on the sidewalk, like partly on the sidewalk, so they’re like half blocking a lane. And then they have, like, a canopy draped over their car, and they have stacks of sh-t. And the next to it was a dresser. They had a dresser. So they had their shoes in a shoe rack. There was a shoe rack, like this is where they live,” Rogan recalled during a conversation with fellow comedian Tom Segura.

“That’s really wild,” Segura responded. The latter went on to claim that in Los Angeles or elsewhere in the once Golden State, the law protects the personal property of transients or those whom bureaucrats often refer to as unhoused.

“You know, when you see stuff like that on the streets, at least in Los Angeles or maybe in California, that’s protected property,” Segura noted. “Like by law….That’s that person’s property by law…If you were to go and try to move that or take that–”

“You’d get arrested,” Rogan interjected, finishing the interviewee’s sentence. “Hilarious. But they wouldn’t arrest you if you shot somebody. Maybe you should just go and shoot the homeless people. And if nobody claims it. I mean nobody does anything about violent crime in LA anymore. It’s a f—ing joke. They’re just letting people out.”

Segura might be at risk for cancellation after chiming in that “I like your ideas.”

“Overall crime is up 8.2 percent in Los Angeles. Shootings, assaults, and robberies are also up in the City of Angels, at 3.1, 5.0, and 20.8 percent, respectively,” the Daily Mail claimed.

According to the New York Post, “Segura [mentioned] a recent federal court ruling that barred the city from taking possession of a homeless person’s personal property. The ruling was made in response to a lawsuit by advocates for the homeless who sued Los Angeles for a city ordinance that allowed it to immediately remove and dispose of an item stored in a public area if it did not fit into a 60-gallon container.”

Reacting to Rogan’s riff, a homeless advocate told Variety that “It’s repulsive. It’s infuriating because it’s not only out of touch, but the reality is that unhoused people are targeted by housed people. To advocate trying to shoot at unhoused people or just giving these dog whistles to people that do not see unhoused people as human beings — I can’t believe you’d advocate for it.”

The head of a downtown LA homeless shelter told the entertainment news outlet that” “I’m surprised and saddened. The comments about beginning to kill homeless people hits too close to reality for any comfort, because murders of homeless people in Los Angeles went up 47% last year over the previous year…There is a bit of an unfortunate vigilantism already in Los Angeles towards people devastated by homelessness and they don’t need any encouragement.”

As well chronicled, humorist and UFC commentator Rogan, who — during the same podcast with Segura — described former President Trump as a man-baby — has prompted controversy and perhaps near cancellation in the past, in part for raising questions about the conventional COVID-19 narrative and for various other reasons.

The former Bernie Sanders supporter, 54, who has described himself as a socially liberal pragmatist has said that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis would be a good president.

In the same long-form chat with Segura, the free speech champion denounced far-left Justin Trudeau, Canada’s authoritarian prime minister as a “sketchy and gross” dictator who is presiding over a communist country.

Social media outrage over the quip about the homeless on the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast has rolled in. Here is just a small sample  (*further warning for language):
