A very liberal Democrat made an observation about which both the left and the right can probably agree in the context of the evenly divided upper chamber in the U.S. Congress that requires a tie-breaking vote by Vice President Kamala Harris to break a deadlock created by party unity.
Dissatisfied with her colleague Joe Machin and his unwillingness to go along to get along with even more massive federal spending, U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii.), whom Fox News host Tucker Carlson once described as “America’s dumbest senator,” declared that “The 50-50 Senate sucks, so that’s it.”
Added U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), “It’s not fair to string people along for a year and not come to a conclusion. It’s not an appropriate way to negotiate.”
According to Politico, “The White House is steaming mad at Joe Manchin. Again…Manchin, on Friday, said he could not support quick consideration of the administration’s climate and tax ambitions as part of a larger domestic spending bill. The president acquiesced to the demand. But White House aides and Democrats were left furious over what they deemed Manchin’s latest act of sabotage, blaming him for shifting the goalposts and blowing up key elements of an economic package months in the making.”

Biden reportedly wants to spend $350 billion of taxpayer money on combatting climate change.
In the video clip embedded above that featured soundbites from Hirono and Heinrich, CNN on Tuesday evening suggested that Manchin and Biden’s team engaged in negotiations particularly over climate change spending that ultimately went nowhere.
“Pressure is building on President Biden to announce some action on climate change particularly after West Virginia senator Joe Manchin last week told his fellow Democrats he would not support the climate provisions in a large economic package the Democrats want to pass it and campaign, according to sources who spoke to CNN. One of those sources said that Sen. Manchin had, at one point, actually, supported the climate provisions, plus taxes to help pay for the package. Democrats need his vote in the 50/50 Senate. Manchin is obviously up for re-election in two years…[his] state benefits from the energy industry,” Anderson Cooper claimed.
Inflation hawk Manchin, the West Virginia Democrat, is the politician standing in the way of full-blown socialism in the U.S.
Manchin and Democrat Sen. Krysten Sinema of Arizona oppose any modification to the current filibuster rule, a parliamentary procedure that requires at least 60 votes for legislation to move forward.
Manchin previously announced opposition to President Biden’s estimated $3.5 trillion Build Back Better plan, and the White House is reportedly making little headway in negotiations with him on climate change-related legislation.

According CNN correspondent Manu Raju, Manchin allegedly proposed a $1.75 trillion compromise before having a change of heart. Manchin has denied “stringing anyone along” during the protracted negotiations on an economic package or being influenced by his purported financial ties to the coal industry.
Manchin is apparently willing to support legislation reducing prescription drug costs and extending Obamacare subsides for two more years.
Bypassing Congress, Biden is set to announce executive action on climate as early as Wednesday, but for now anyway, is not declaring a climate change emergency, which activists have demanded.
A lot of chatter has occurred about Manchin — who represents a Trump-supporting state but votes with his party most of the time — possibly switching his political affiliation, but he holds maximum leverage by remaining a Democrat.
“It’s hard to think of someone who has been more effective at undermining a president of his own party than Sen. Manchin,” Rep. Mondaire Jones (D-NY) said in the CNN report.
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, a so-called democratic socialist, has similarly accused Manchin of “sabotaging the president’s agenda.”
