Border Patrol agents cleared of ‘whipping’ migrants but Biden punishes them anyway, Republicans react

The Biden administration was finally forced to admit that the Border Patrol agents who were falsely accused of “whipping” Haitian migrants last fall near Del Rio, Texas did no such thing, but in true form for the authoritarian Democrat in the White House, they will be punished despite their innocence.

On Friday, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Office of Professional Responsibility released the long-awaited report into the smearing of the agents who were vilified by President Joe Biden, the media and Democrats who claimed that they used whips against the illegal immigrants, conjuring images of the dark days of slavery when the reality was that the “whips” were merely the reins of their horses.

In the 500+ page report on the incident, it was determined that there was “no evidence” that the agents involved struck the migrants with their reins, a finding that was confirmed by Biden’s CBP Commissioner Chris Magnus during a press conference.

“OPR investigators determined that the agents involved in the Del Rio activity were not carrying whips,” Magnus told reporters.

Magnus also said, “Despite initial appearances, after a careful review and analysis of videos, photos and eyewitness accounts, this included an interview with the photographer on the scene and other members of the media, OPR found no evidence Border Patrol agents involved in this incident struck any person with their reins intentionally or otherwise.”

Despite their being cleared of the inflammatory charge, the four agents will be disciplined anyway in yet another of the gross abuses of power that has marked Biden’s dismal tenure in office.

The agents were instead slapped with the charges that they acted unprofessionally including using “denigrating and offensive” language toward the migrants and will have a black mark affixed to their careers courtesy of “woke” bureaucrats acting on behalf of Biden as well as suspensions without pay.

Bill Melugin of Fox News who has been covering the crisis at the nation’s southern border took to Twitter on Friday to report that “Multiple federal sources tell me the agents received their proposed discipline from CBP yesterday, and it includes unpaid suspensions of up to 14 days. The agents will have an opportunity to respond/fight the allegations.”

Republican lawmakers reacted to the news.

“Vengeful and cruel. Democrats smeared heroic Border Patrol agents with bogus attacks all based on a lie,” wrote Texas Senator Ted Cruz. “I’m proud to unequivocally stand with the men and women of the Border Patrol.”

Senator Tom Cotton wrote, “The Biden Administration is punishing Border Patrol agents for *trying to protect the border*” along with a flashing red light emoji.

“Biden’s values are warped: illegal immigrants get a pass while law enforcement officers are attacked,” the Arkansas Republican added. “Anyone at DHS who signs off on this should resign.”

Texas Rep. Tony Gonzalez tweeted, “Today, CBP released the results of a thorough investigation into the alleged migrant ‘whipping’ incident in Del Rio last year. Agents have officially been cleared of whipping or striking anyone. I will not stand for a politicized narrative against our Border Patrol agents.”

“Let me get this straight: the claims that border patrol agents were ‘whipping’ migrants have been completely debunked, but the agents are still facing unpaid suspensions?” Rep. Brian Mast of Florida asked. “These relentless attacks on law enforcement must stop.”

Rep. Mayra Flores, the new addition to the GOP Congress called out Biden for his big lie that the migrants were “strapped” like slaves.

On the other side of the aisle, January 6 committee chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson who, like other Democrats, has embraced extreme revenge against political adversaries reveled in the chance to have input into the disciplinary actions against the agents despite them being found not guilty of the primary charge.

Biden vowed that there would be vengeance last year and he is good to his word, the fact that the agents are innocent as charged matters nothing to him.

Biden and his fellow Democrats are far too invested in the “big lie” that the Haitian refugees were whipped or strapped to simply give up the ghost and they will likely only double down.
