Resistance superstar Liz Cheney now relying on Democrats to save her Wyoming House seat

Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney has become a resistance superstar, joining the ranks of other previously despised individuals whose hatred of former President Donald J. Trump has redeemed them in the left’s eyes and she is going to need their help to stave off defeat in the upcoming Wyoming primary.

Cheney’s vicious attacks on Trump as well as her leading of the J6 select committee that is currently conducting an unfair, one-sided show trial against him has earned her the anger of voters in the staunchly conservative Cowboy State where barring a miracle, she is a political goner.

Her hopes now rest with Democrats to preserve her hold on Wyoming’s only congressional seat and given her celebrity status as Nancy Pelosi’s most visible committee attack dog, out-of-state money is pouring in to backstop her.

Cheney, whose determination to take out Trump as a threat to the remnants of the Bush-McCain-Romney dead-enders in the GOP has led to her being censured by her state party and stripped of her leadership position in the House of Representatives, remains defiant.

“I won’t waver or back down,” she said in a statement, according to Bloomberg. “I won’t surrender to pressure or intimidation. I know where to draw the line, and I know that some things aren’t for sale.”

Bloomberg, in what seems to be a plea for party line-crossers to help stave off a defeat for Cheney – Washington D.C. royalty as the daughter of former VP Dick Cheney – quotes 69-year-old retired corporate training director Shelly Newman whom the outlet caught up with at the Little Pokes Summer Rodeo opener in Laramie during the goat-tail untying competition.

“I did not support Liz prior to all of this because she’s a very conservative Republican — she voted with Trump 93% of the time — but I do now,” Newman, who plans to sign up as a Republican for the August primary, said.

Trump has made it his mission to oust Cheney, traveling to her backyard of Casper last month to hold a rally in support of attorney Harriet Hageman whom he has endorsed, blasting his nemesis as “the face of the Washington swamp.”

Trump was encouraged after another of the House Republicans who joined up with Pelosi’s lynch mob on impeachment, Rep. Tom Rice of South Carolina – who had the endorsement of former Speaker Paul Ryan – was thumped in the Palmetto State primary, predicting a similar fate for Cheney.

“Same thing’s going to happen in Wyoming to Virginia ‘resident’ Liz Cheney, that happened in South Carolina to Congressman ‘Impeach Master’ Tom Rice, who lost as an incumbent by 28 points!” Trump posted on Truth Social. “To me she is nothing less than a war criminal who has done a TERRIBLE job for the Great State of Wyoming.”

“In this election I do think a lot of Democrats and independents are going to come out and vote in the Republican primary,” Natrona County GOP state committee Representative Joe McGinley was quoted as saying by Bloomberg. “I’m proud that she is standing up for what’s right. Whether that’s going to affect things in Wyoming — that’s hard to say.”

Cheney’s J6 committee star power has earned her the gratitude of Trump-hating Democrats, whether they will be able to spare her from a likely defeat remains to be seen.
