Louisville’s Democrat mayor gets sucker-punched in broad daylight, surveillance shows

It’s not a secret that crime is rising across the United States, but rarely has such a stark example of lawlessness been presented.

Mayor Greg Fischer of Louisville, Kentucky was the target of violence on Saturday when cameras caught a total stranger walking up to him and sucker-punching him in the face.

The footage of the assault was released by Louisville Metro Police Department, which is currently searching for the suspect.

In the video, a man can be seen casually walking up to Fischer, who was engaging in conversation with a different person. In no time flat, the strange man clocked the mayor and sent him reeling backward. Several people could be seen approaching the assailant, but nobody attempted to apprehend him.

Following the attack, police said that Fischer is “fine,” and during an interview with WLKY the following day, he declared that the violence wasn’t going to prevent him from doing what he’s doing.

“You know, we are living in strange times all across America right now, I think. And I have the honor of being right in the middle of all of it,” Fischer explained. “You know, the only thing you can do moving forward is just keep moving forward in a compassionate and kind way, and things take care of themselves. You know occasionally in life things happen. You know, you get knocked down. You gotta get back up and keep going.”

Social media response to the attack was mixed, though it’s clear that the mayor is NOT popular:
