New poll shows majority of Americans opposed to transgenders competing in girls and women’s sports

A majority of Americans are opposed to the participation of transgender athletes in girls’ and women’s sports according to a new poll, validating concerns about the unfair advantage that biological males have over their female competitors and providing additional evidence that the tide has shifted against the left’s “woke” cultural revolution.

The Washington Post-University of Maryland poll shows that 55 percent of respondents are against allowing transgenders to compete with girls and women in high school sports and 58 percent are opposed to it in college and pro sports.

Only 30 percent were supportive of transgenders being allowed to compete against girls and women, a minority that has been amplified by having the national media in their corner despite the reality that most Americans come down on the opposite side of the contentious and controversial issue.

The poll generated much response on Twitter as users took to the platform to express their own opinions.

“Better headline might be most Americans oppose men dominating women’s sports,” wrote Douglas Blair of the Daily Signal.

“A Washington Post poll finds a clear majority of Americans do not want boys competing against girls in girls’ high school and college sports. Concurrently, the Biden Administration is going to deny school lunch program money to schools that keep boys out of girls’ sports,” wrote conservative pundit and radio host Erick Erickson, noting that the regime is conducting extortion against states that forbid transgenders in girl’s sports.

The debate has intensified after University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas became the first openly transgender individual to win a Division 1 NCAA championship event, drawing national attention as well as intense criticism over the obvious physical advantage that Thomas had over real women.

Also weighing in on the poll was Sydney Bauer, a freelance journalist who covered the Olympics and took exception to the Washington Post’s framing of the poll.

“The reactionary pundit does not need to think of a world where sport needs rules and regulations and the minute details that entails so the reactionary pundit can only believe trans athletes are a threat because they must be included without any thought. That’s the simple danger,” she wrote.

“Todays Washington post poll about trans athletes asks only people to think of a young high school girl and a trans feminine athlete and compare them and think if they should play together on a high school team. That’s not how any of sport administration works.”

“That’s how this discussion is framed. That’s how it’s legislated. And that’s how fear is drummed up. Trans athlete participation is something that needs to be normalized but it doesn’t happen in a vacuum like no sport happens in a vacuum :))))),” Bauer added. “Maybe more Americans should play amateur sports with their friends. And if they have they likely have played with a trans person. Maybe then these polls would have some perspective. Sports are supposed to be fun :) come play!”

Twitter users reacted to the WaPo poll, with both sides weighing in.

One thing is for sure and that is the transgender agenda is facing growing backlash after years of easy victories made possible by the disproportionate media coverage.

  1. Of all polls which I would like to see a breakdown by sex , this is it . I cannot imagine any female accepting this erasing of their biological reality .

  2. I have said this before and I will present the idea again. The only fair way a male should be able to compete against true females is to compete with a blacksmith’s anvil tied to his gonads. What do you think?

  3. Where is womens rights organizations on this issue? Men taking womens places in sports, businesses etc.
Well it’s beginning to look like women are expected to walk 2 steps behind transgenders. If our great American women don’t come out in mass against this they will be getting what they deserve.
That said there seems to be more mothers staying home to raise and protect the kids against the tyranny in our schools and that is a good thing.

  4. It’s really very simple…that there are six people in the USA that think it’s okay to have “transgender” people compete in women’s sports displays the crisis in American culture. You don’t have to get animated about this “transgender”-thing but when it discriminates against normal girls in sports and you don’t have a problem with it, you a “progressive” idiot and there are just too many of them to imagine.

  5. So, in the beginning when believe the science folks said you can pick your gender, you know boys can be girls and girls can be boys it was ok. But now that these girls are taking over women’s sports you have a problem. Hmmm, a little late now, you voted and supported people who made this happen but now that it’s at your door your unhappy. Oh well!

  6. Waiting on a transgender or two to join the World Tennis Association. Have them play both the Williams sisters. The uproar we would read and hear when they are beaten.

  7. There is a physical difference between the two genders, this is scientific fact. Ignoring that is placing politics into an athletic contest, which has been against the rules since the first Olympics.

  8. I dont care what he ,she,it does. Its a freak and a freak of nature. Yea I know he chose to go tranny . But thats what made him a freak. A man who couldnt make it in the mans world that he chose to compete in . Still he couldnt be a winner while the sides were even. He had to go to a physically weaker world to be a winner. He has discredited himself in the sports world.
