Gun charges against a rapper who was set to perform at the Governor’s Ball music festival in New York on Saturday night were reportedly dropped the next day.
Los Angeles-based artist Roddy Ricch (Rodrick Moore), 23, allegedly drove up to the security checkpoint at the New York City three-day concert at Citi Field, which is also the home of the MLB New York Mets, when a weapon was allegedly observed.
“Moore and two other men were inside a 2020 black Cadillac Escalade when an employee with a private security firm hired for the Queens concert spotted a Canik 9mm under a seat inside the car at around 6:20 p.m. — just hours before the event was set to begin, according to police. Authorities also found a large-capacity magazine that contained nine rounds of ammunition, a police spokesman said,” the New York Post reported on Sunday.
The trio was reportedly arrested at the scene.

The charges against Ricch and one of his companions were subsequently dropped, the Post indicated, citing law enforcement sources, and, according to TMZ, the rapper was released from custody on Sunday afternoon.
The other man allegedly faces a felony charge of criminal possession of a loaded firearm.
Ricch was initially charged “with criminal possession of a weapon, possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device and unlawful possession of the device,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“The reason we do these checkpoints is for expressly this purpose,” an unnamed NYPD cop told the Post. “We don’t want people introducing guns in this venue.”
A clerk at the Queens, N.Y., criminal courthouse confirmed to the New York Daily News that the charges against the duo were dismissed. “The Queens District Attorney’s office did not immediately respond to request for comment,” the news outlet added. Neither Ricch’s team, nor the event organizer, have apparently provided a public comment either so far.
Whether celebrity privilege, or any other factor, played a role in the disposition of the charges is completely speculative.
Ricch, who has six million-plus YouTube subscribers, is a Grammy Award winner who first rose to prominence with a 2018 single called “Die Young.”
In an entirely separate development, disillusioned NYPD officers are reportedly retiring in droves or transferring to other, more desirable agencies, which obviously has serious implications for public safety.

Contributing to the NYPD morale issue, woke Democrats who control the state legislature have so far rebuffed NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ call to reform the bail reform law, a catch-and-release policy that has often resulted in suspects, including recidivists, getting released practically before the ink on their precinct paperwork is even dry.
Mayor Adams is a champion of what he considers common-sense gun control regulations and has lamented the flow of illegal weapons into New York City, which already has strict gun control laws, and other urban centers.
Earlier this month, the state legislature passed a slew of additional restrictions which were signed into law by Gov. Kathy Hochul. “New York already has some of the nation’s strongest laws around gun ownership, but the new package of 10 different measures tackles several gaps,” The Washington Post noted.
All suspects are presumed innocent until or unless they are convicted in a court of law of any alleged crimes.

So belonging to an industry that promotes beating women, killing cops, killing whitey, pimping and theft gets you a pass in a city with the strictest gun laws in the nation?
Notice that 80% of the responses here are scam/spam ? Does Biz Pac want this to continue and drive away patrons?…OR….will you at least consider my frequent suggestion that is offered here…to install algorithms that spot key words like “I make”…”I get paid”…..etc….and immediately remove them as spam? What’s taking you so long? it’s getting worse and worse and nothing is done……readers will move on.
They want more gun laws while they don’t even enforce the ones we currently have.
