‘If Dems want to play this game…’DeSantis spox answers calls to tax churches over Pelosi Holy Communion ban

Leftists swarmed after the archbishop of San Francisco announced that he was banning Nancy Pelosi from Holy Communion, hitting Twitter to demand that the government strip churches of their religious tax exemption for such a grave insult against the mighty Speaker, and drawing a stinging response from Christina Pushaw who called for an eye for an eye rebuttal.

On Friday, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone put Pelosi on notice that her “extreme” position on abortion as well as her ignoring his requests to speak with her about the “grave evil she is perpetrating” and the “danger to her own soul she is risking” left him little choice but to bar her from the sacred rite, as the 65-year-old religious leader gave notice of his position in a letter to the “devout Catholic.”

In his letter to the faithful on the notice sent to Pelosi, Archbishop Cordileone wrote “I have determined that the point has come in which I must make a public declaration that she is not to be admitted to Holy Communion unless and until she publicly repudiate her support for abortion ‘rights’ and confess and receive absolution for her cooperation in this evil in the sacrament of Penance. I have accordingly sent her a Notification to this effect, which I have now made public,” also posting a notice on Twitter.

Among those who were triggered by the archbishop’s action was one blue check journalist who also took to Twitter to call for taxing the churches.

“It’s time we ended tax exemption for religions. If they want to play politics, make them pay the price,” wrote David Lazarus, the “Emmy-winning money guy for KTLA Channel 5” and former LA Times columnist.

His idea drew much approval from the leftist mob that patrols Twitter to enforce rigid leftist ideology and a response from Pushaw who, as press secretary for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has established her own formidable presence on the platform, suggested that the left’s own religious institutions also be stripped of their tax exemptions.

“If Dems want to play this game, it’s time to end tax exemptions for their religion (wokeism) too. Yes that means all their ‘social justice’ nonprofits, the ACLU, Ford Foundation, etc,” she wrote.

Pushaw just may be onto something as many expressed their support of her brilliant idea.

Archbishop Cordileone made it clear in his letter to the faithful that it isn’t personal.

“Please know that I find no pleasure whatsoever in fulfilling my pastoral duty here. Speaker Pelosi remains our sister in Christ. Her advocacy for the care of the poor and vulnerable elicits my admiration. I assure you that my action here is purely pastoral, not political,” he said. “I have been very clear in my words and actions about this. Speaker Pelosi has been uppermost in my prayer intentions ever since I became the Archbishop of San Francisco.”

  1. The absolute ignorance and stupidity of the unhinged, angry, anti-American left is palpable.

Maybe they should occasionally read up on a subject before resorting to their knee jerk assumptions and attacks.

    They are vile.

  2. I don’t see Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone as playing politics in this matter. He is only reminding Pelosi that abortion goes against the Catholic doctrine and if she chooses to ignore Catholic Doctrine she will not receive communion. However no charitable institutions that receive tax free status or receive federal funds, Planned Parenthood for example, should get tax free status revoked and any federal funds for any of these institutions should be cut off if they engage in politics or contribute to any political candidate or PAC.

  3. Absolutely! Everyone needs to pay their fair share according to the liberal mob.

  4. This is a church telling one of its parishioners that they cannot receive communion until the put an end to their sin. This is not political. How can anyone be so stupid. It remind s me of a quote, “what is the difference between genius and stupidity? Genius is limited.”

  5. Devout Catholic my tail. Her and Biden claim they are and the unknowing believe them. It’s as fake as it comes and it not only hurts them but also we the people.

  6. Pelosi should be excommunicated from the church. Everything she does, and has done, is for her own financial benefit. Murdering babies is much worse. She is 100% in favor of abortion. How she remains in the Catholic church is beyond me. Her actions show believers that they don’t have to follow God’s rules, to be a Catholic. Disgusting.

  7. San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone did the right thing. He needs to excommunicate her.

Now we need another Archbishop to do the same to Xiden.

Then perhaps the Mormon church will grow a backbone and dump Romney.

  8. I would love to see all tax exempt status removed from everything. If people want to be charitable, they should do it out of the sense of actual charity.

It’s become a scam. Why do you think all the elites set up “foundations”?

Abolishing this stuff would really, really hurt the Left. Let’s do it!

  9. I don’t think tax exempt status is the right battlefield. The government just gets more money to waste. For decades pastors have sent CD’s of sermons with unmistakable political topics to the IRS as a challenge. The LBJ law restricting speech from the pulpit is unconstitutional and the IRS knows it. Pastors have been self censoring needlessly.

  10. Do demonrats EVER think anything through to it’s consequences?!? This gives the churches full-throated, non-refutable, non-restricted voice. NOT what the left wants! Great for Christianity, though. Bunch of fools…

    1. Since when have the churches had a restricted voice? Haven’t Al Sharpton, MLK, and many other religious leaders spoken their mind publicly forever?

      1. I can’t remember seeing a Republican politician standing at the pulpit and speechifyin’, but I’ve seen dozens of demmunists giving political speeches in churches.

        Just another double standard.

  11. For them to tax the Church would mean that the Church would become a free enterprize. That would give the Church the loudest voice in America. They would be able to say anything they wish across the pulpit. Its constituency would be enormous. One which the dems would not win with. Dems need to rethink that strategy. Pelosi would lose her position which is already in question to say the least. Then again the Church would be in position to rule the nation. Which was one of the reasons that we broke ties with England to begin with.
Pelosi is nothing more than a wolf in wolf’s clothing with a shot of scotch in hand and bad false teeth.
