‘You are being manipulated’: Elon Musk shares ‘very important’ Twitter feed ‘fix’ – Jack Dorsey fires back

Billionaire Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter has seriously spooked the corrupt establishment which has good reason to fear that he will bring an end to their rigged game on the social media platform by ending censorship and perhaps more importantly, revealing the secrets behind the tech giant’s algorithm.

On Saturday, the Tesla/SpaceX CEO divulged to his 93.2 million followers that they were being “manipulated” by the algorithm in his latest missive, another sign that if the deal goes through, that he will bring much needed transparency to Twitter, something that his adversaries are determined to prevent at all costs.

In his message that began with “Very important to fix your Twitter feed” because “You are being manipulated by the algorithm in ways you don’t realize,” Musk listed three steps that users can take to see the workings of the mysterious algorithm, drawing a response from former CEO Jack Dorsey.

In another tweet, Musk added a twist with a humorous take.

Dorsey quickly chimed in.

“it was designed simply to save you time when you are away from app for a while,” he wrote, “pull to refresh goes back to reverse chron as well.”

Musk later clarified that he didn’t intend to suggest anything nefarious but that it was an intentional feature that had the result of manipulating what users see.

“I’m not suggesting malice in the algorithm, but rather that it’s trying to guess what you might want to read and, in doing so, inadvertently manipulate/amplify your viewpoints without you realizing this is happening,” he wrote.

Musk also made the case for open sourcing Twitter’s code, “Not to mention potential bugs in the code. Open source is the way to go to solve both trust and efficacy.”

Musk’s message on the algorithm came the day after he announced that was contacted by Twitter’s legal department for violating his non-disclosure agreement with the company by revealing the sample size used to check for bot accounts.

“Twitter legal just called to complain that I violated their NDA by revealing the bot check sample size is 100!” Musk wrote in a Friday tweet, “This actually happened.”

The tweet that got him into hot water came when Musk sent out a link to a Reuters report on the estimation of 5 percent of users are fake accounts, stating that the deal is “temporarily on hold pending details supporting calculation that spam/fake accounts do indeed represent less than 5% of users …”

“To find out, my team will do a random sample of 100 followers of @twitter,” he added. “I invite others to repeat the same process and see what they discover..

The sale is far from done and there will certainly continue to be multiple legal roadblocks thrown up to foil Musk’s effort to take Twitter private in order to clean it up and restore the digital public square to its original state before the censors took over.

  1.  “if the deal goes through…” If I were laying money on it they will stop him even if they have to arrest him. The government is already holding it up and claiming Musk violated SEC rules. Musk himself tweeted about an accidental death. Though it was tongue in cheek maybe not 100% so.

  2. People who’ve been paying attention have long been aware of those massive numbers of fake Twitter followers, especially including those sold to various “B” and “C” list celebrities who might otherwise be embarrassed by having such small numbers of actual followers in real life. A simple DuckDuckGo search for “celebrities buy fake twitter followers” and similar will pull up any number of older articles detailing this kind of thing, dating back years in many cases. This is certainly nothing new.

The late great Rush Limbaugh was the victim of a similar type of attack some years ago, where all of his radio show’s sponsors were being collectively targeted with thousands of tweets and texts and emails and such, APPARENTLY coming from huge numbers of people all across the country. Long story short, Rush paid to have this thoroughly investigated over about 6 months or so, and in the end it turned out to be about 10 people – some of them college professors – who were using all of the above internet trickery to make themselves deceptively appear to be many thousands of people, all complaining and threatening to boycott them if they continued advertising via Rush’s show and blah blah blah. IT WAS TECHNOLOGICAL FAKERY. While Rush unfortunately never publicly released the names of these individuals, and I seriously wish he would have “doxxed” them ALL, he DID provide the info to his advertisers who all rejected the deception and faithfully decided to stick with him. The bad guys lost. As per usual, while Rush’s tens of millions of listeners were very familiar with this story, U.S. corporate media as a whole had no interest in reporting on it much at all, much less honestly.

It is interesting to now watch as so many on the left belatedly come to the realization of just how much of the media they used to trust is little more than outright propaganda, but it is far too little and far too late for this country right now. It took such an obviously incompetent administration to screw things up so horribly while lying about everything so obviously, that even many once proud Biden voters now regret their voting decisions. But again, too little, too late, and many will NEVER admit ever being wrong in any public way, even as their chosen sources for media and their voting habits are very quietly changing. I offer the simply obvious fact of Biden’s positive polling numbers dwindling away to nothing. And again as per usual, U.S. corporate media has nothing to gain by reporting on that honestly either, so they don’t. And that is just another small part of why all we largely ever seem to get is….

    No News at 11.

  3. spam/fake accounts do indeed represent less than 5% of users …”
    I don’t use that rag….but if I did, I would never use anything but a fake account…or even 100’s?

  4. “it was designed simply to save you time when you are away from app for a while,” he wrote, “pull to refresh goes back to reverse chron as well.”

How about this twitter. Let ME decide what is a waste of my time. Let ME decide what I want to read. I would want to read about Hunter Biden’s lap top and also story’s about Biden’s corruption. That is not for twitter to decide.

    1. That is the issue, really. These elitist Leftists think they know better than everyone else, so they think you are too ignorant to make your OWN decisions about what you want. They have been taught to think their decisions are correct and that everyone else is too stupid, racist, etc. to make their own decisions. The arrogance is astounding.

This has accelerated since the Obama years. He was the first arrogant elitist who stood up and shamelessly acted as if he was superior to the rest of us. I have flushed things that were superior to him.

Sunlight is the best disinfectant. Even if this sale doesn’t complete, Elon will have exposed the dirty tricks and manipulation that these tech jerks have been getting away with for years.

  5. I wish Musk well and hope he cleans Twitter up, reducing its ability to influence elections. But I will never join. I did sign up for Truth Social.

      1. There are 3 things that DO NOT hang themselves. Christmas ornaments, picture frames and Jeffery Epstein! Now, we can add Elon Musk!
