Fox News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier” featured a panel discussion on the complete and utter failure of immigration policies under the auspices of the Democratic Party and President Joe Biden in particular.

As Title 42 is set to be lifted on May 23, many predict the deluge of illegal immigration will only intensify, so much so that writer and commentator Ben Domenech predicts the situation at the U.S. southern border will become “a crisis like we’ve never seen before.”

“Immigration. It is a problem for the Biden administration, for the president, especially along those border states that are seeing this influx even before Title 42 is wiped away,” Baier started.

“It’s an out-of-control statistic that hurts the Biden presidency greatly,” panelist and syndicated radio host Hugh Hewitt responded.

“I noticed Congressman Mike Turner (R-Ohio) in his conversation with you as he closed up managed to get a border-out-of-control talking point in there, and ‘it doesn’t work unless it works.’ And so it’s out there now, making people talk about it in every single race. It’s not going to get better. It’s going to get worse first,” he said.

Journalist Mara Liasson followed by saying, “If you listen to moderate Democrats, it’s a vulnerability because they want Title 42 kept. Title 42 really is a public health rule. If COVID is over then Title 42 should be lifted, but it is something that was used to stop immigrants from coming over the border, making it easier for the U.S. to send them back.”

She continued, “The problem is that the Biden administration said it wanted to be more welcoming and stop some of what it called the inhumane practices of the Trump administration, but at the same time it’s been trying to send this message ‘don’t come.’ Well, that’s not the message that people in Central America are hearing.”

Before turning to Domenech for his thoughts, Baier played a clip of Dept. of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas‘ recent appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” responding to a question concerning reports of 42 migrants alleged to be on a U.S. terror watchlist.

“We know where those 42 individuals are on the TSDB – the Terrorist Screening Database. Let me share with you what happens: They can be removed. They can be placed into custody for criminal prosecution. They could be cooperating in a law enforcement investigation. And I don’t intend to provide that data publicly if it’s law enforcement sensitive. But we know where those 42 are,” Mayorkas claimed in the video clip.

Domenech responded, “The Department of Homeland Security is a department that should not exist. It is a crammed-together group of agencies, all with different priorities and it does not function very well. When you hear that from Secretary Mayorkas, I don’t think Americans can have any real confidence in their ability to keep track of these individuals in the same way that they cannot have confidence when it comes to control of our side of the border.”

“The truth is the southern border is controlled, to a large extent, by cartels based in Mexico who use it to their advantage and use this human trafficking for profit; funneling people through a system where they can make money from them and they can drive fentanyl and other drugs into the pockets of Americans, and frankly, into towns and small cities across the country,” he continued.

“This is not just a border issue anymore. It’s one that is national in a true extent, and unfortunately, this Biden administration really, as Mara says, they wanted to move away from what they viewed as inhumane policies on the border? They have only furthered the inhumanity of the situation there. We are going to see a crisis like we’ve never seen before,” Domenech added.

Liasson concurred, “That’s the problem. Immigration is the top — one of the very top issues for Republicans this cycle. They are hammering away on it and Democrats haven’t come up with a good answer yet . That’s why you see moderate Democrats saying keep Title 42.”

“If there was a better solution, we wouldn’t need to focus on a public health rule,” she concluded.
